jamie's journal

Couldnt find the other post's for Jamie's Journal...what happened to it. we haven't heard from Jamie in a while. Realize he has been busy with the team and public appearances. Would like to hear how his first season went as a pro and the highs and lows..

A lot of questions need to be answered by the players in the next season, and we figured while most teams are starting up Feb. 1, we would go ahead and get a head start and begin our workouts this week. The reason for this is simply to get better. Jason Kreis will be leading us in these tough workouts and getting us prepared for a long preseason, which of course is a precursor to the regular MLS season.

Excellent. I'm sensing an attitude adjustment.

Well an attitude adjustment with some. From what I was told these are not mandatory practices and unless something has changed over the last day, there have only been 11-12 players showing up. IMO it shows who are the serious players. I also understand the younger players, Jamie, Christian, and Nick (may have missed someone) returned from their homes early to Salt Lake early just for these sessions with Jason.

Sounds like Tarley wasn't the only one Clint was yelling at.

Clint Mathis was the kind of guy who showed me tough love. At times I could have sworn he hated me because if I messed up, he would lay into me with the kind of yelling/lecture that would make my mom extremely proud.

Tough Love is easier to take from an authority figure ie. coach or mom. Coming from a peer/teammate is a different story. Or at least a different perspective of that story.

This shouldn't be a suprise. Is there anyone here who did not ever see Clint laying into most anyone during a game? At The Jimmy, Clint was laying into Kries pretty bad at one point, calling him some words that would make Eddie Murphy blush. For me that was the moment I decided Clint had lost the plot. It wasn't just that he was going after the Kries, one of the few guys on the team that was playing well that night nor was it the words, but for how long and direct he went after Jason. It wasn't "you should've passed me the ball ****face". It was several sentences and, it's been awhile but if my mind is still serving me right, did involve calling Kries a stupid piece of **** in all of them. The problem with Clint was that it wasn't tough love, it was the ******* father who thought he was being tough when he was being straight up abusive.
