i am glad to see that joey worthen has come into these posts. i know him very well. i played with him in club and odp and he has the talen to play on this team and not just play he will make a difference. he has the talent, confidence and experience. he was to be signed by RSL last year but as soccerprime stated the Richmond Kickers would not release him. he found this out the night before spring training camp in florida. he was packed and ready to fly out the next morning when his agent called and told him the kickers would not release him to go to spring training and tryout for rsl. it was a pretty sad situation but joey was professional about it and didnt hold any grudges and went back and led his team to the finals where they lost in the finals.
he is good enough to play on RSL and it would be a huge mistake not to pick him up. if you like how hard watson works that is how joey plays and he will be excellent at attacking down the wings.

College soccer should be for late bloomers, not the chief development tool for MLS. The U17 system has mixed results with most of them going to play college soccer.

The reserve league is a start, but MLS really needs to start developing youth systems if they want to become a top league.

Worthen was in attendance at the name unveiling, but it is hard to know if success in the USL translates into succes in MLS. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Time will perhaps tell.

forgive me for my ignorance but i've only been in america about 19 months and only really started to get back into sports in the last week or two. How do RSL get to expand there team? i don't understand the american drafting system they use in nfl ... how does a player get in the draft how is it determined how many picks a team gets and who gets first pick etc .... is that even they way it works in soccer here? All i know is that in England teams have scouts ... they go out and watch kids play ... if they're good they sign them into their youth training program where they advance through the ranks and if they're good enough when they come of age they play on the first team or reserves etc. But here it seems that there is a cap on the amount of players u can pick or something?

like i said i have no idea as i am only just getting into sports in america ... anyone who takes the time to explain it would be much appreciated.

Try this link, XLite.

They "forgot" to mention a couple of things:

-The Salary Cap does not apply to Chivas USA.

-The LA Galaxy's Player Acquisition rules are "We can sign whoever we want to because we sell the most tickets."

According to my highly scientific Google search, Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar played for the Portland Timbers.
