There are many differences. The trouble is that the Mexicans and their ilk always seem to translate that difference as "We're better". But the record doesn't show that. It is a hold-over from years past, in which they actually were better.

As a consequence, a lot of people who are fans of Mexican League soccer, won't watch the "inferior" American product. As a further consequence, we have the Chivas USA, based on the notion that they can come up here and show us what soccer is all about. Apparently, they haven't learned from their experiences last year.

Jim, you're talking about MFL/Tri fan Futbol Alzheimer's like it's a bad thing.

It's 1985. It has always been 1985. It will always be 1985. Sigue Sigue Sputnik rules the airwaves. Members' Only jackets are the peak of fashion. And US soccer players are amateurs, college students or indoor players.

There's no way that US players will ever compete with MFL/Tri players at any level.

The US in a quarterfinals of a World Cup after beating Mexico? The US qualifying for a World Cup after beating Mexico 2-0, with a Damarcus Beasley Missed Sitter thrown in?

That's too ridiculous to even contemplate.

👍

If we're talking about the MFL, it is better than the MLS. They have money to bring in good players. Not necessarily the best in the world but they do pull in their fair share of very good talent from Latin America. Don't let the differences in style lull you inot think the MLS can compete with Chivas, Morelia, Cruz Azul, or even lil' Jaguares from the far south. We could win some games but I'd still give them 6 or 7 out of 10.

And the fire prk166 tag still makes me laugh when I see it. I love it! 🙂
