ellinger was on 1280 talking to hatch and mentioned that tarley sepcifically was someone that was not finishing the opportunities he had in practices and games. He said he was being outwork.


He also mentioned something about novak yelling something very demeaning to attiba harris? Has anyone else heard about this?

I heard the last of the Ellinger interview. Hatch said he had heard a report about Nowak yelling "send him back to Africa!" in reference to Atiba Harris. Hatch then asked Ellinger if the report was accurate. Ellinger said something along the lines of "you're not too far off, we're going to let our front office take care of it." Ellinger made it sound like Nowak knew exactly what he was saying and was really disappointed by what Nowak said. Not the brightest thing for a coach to be saying after all the attention that racism has been getting from FIFA and all the other international leagues.

On the contrary isn't that smart of him to be upfront and honest about something that the press obviously overheard and were reporting? If he had played dumb and ignored it then he opens himself and the entire team to fines from FIFA and undoubtedly MLS. It sounds to me as if he is dealing with it entirely appropriately.

So the comment was from Peter Nowak, DCU Coach, NOT Kevin Novak, RSL Midfielder!

OK I was worried about that when I first read the comments below... I suppose we will just have to wait and see what happens...

People have lost their jobs for less, so it will be interesting to see MLS' reaction.

Now they're fighting over whether or not Nowak has displayed racism in his roster selection.

I find it rather ironic that tonight's study topic of choice is Multiculturalism, Diversity, and Social Justice. Kind of weird going back and forth between the "PC Sucks!" ranting on BS and my notes on deficit thinking and levels of oppression...

The following may be attributed to Kevin Payne, President and CEO of D.C. United:

"Peter Nowak has categorically denied making comments during Friday's exhibition match anything like those attributed to him by Real Salt Lake. The D.C United personnel who were on the bench at the time, including me, heard no such comment nor anything like it. In an angry response directed at the referee following the third reckless and dangerous tackle by a Real Salt Lake player, Peter did shout that the player needed to be 'sent back to hospital.' Among those on the D.C. bench, who heard this clearly, were several African-American players.

The Real Salt Lake technical staff reacted, at that moment, as a group, apparently misunderstanding what Peter had said. D.C. United has confirmed with U.S. Soccer that the match officials also heard nothing like Real Salt Lake is alleging to have been said, despite the fact that the senior assistant referee working the match was within a few feet of Peter when RSL believes they heard the comment in question.

In our view, this incident is 100% a misunderstanding. Those people, that know Peter, know that such a comment would be completely at odds with his character."

He made a salary cap comment about Tarley also. I suspect something would need to give with some of the more experienced players around (aka $$$$$). That and IIRC he had 9 starts and only 1 goal.

Ok, I too thought it was our Novak that the comment was attributed too, I have been out of service for a few days as my wife had our third child and had not read the reports, pleas disregard my comments.
