I went but could not stay long because I am tied to a bus schedule until my car is back on the road!....

there were a lot of people there... Myself and Dadof3 were interviewed for KUED CH9... our 15 seconds of fame will air this Monday or the following Monday at 7:30 on KUED. I mentioned the MUSS at the Loyalist meeting a couple weeks ago and they wanted to know more!
I tried to duck out of it by putting forth the argument "my face was made for radio" apparently they had insurance for the lens so we carried on!

She asked about Real Salt Lake, the MUSS, and whether I would be willing to pay the extra tax if the bond is approved. Silly question really!!! uh yeah! :p

Anyway I chatted abit with Trey, Allison and Liz... everyone is excited about Pope and the brisk season ticket sales... apparently RSL has sold 1600 season tix so far(with minimal advertising). They are expecting much more sales when the advertising really picks up!

I had to leave when everyone started filing into the meeting.

Just saw the KSL report and had to give cool points to Dick Norse for pronouncing the name correctly but then had to take the cool points away again when he referred to the team as "The Real" The report showed the Stadium Renderings and some MLS footage, then talked about possible public funding!

Channel 2 had a good 3 minutes of coverage, with a live reporter at the proposed stadium location.
The report was edited well and showed an equal pos/neg report.

Senator Jake Garn was there and spoke He seemed to be very much behind the proposal... and the report said that most council members were positive about the proposal!
Frank Layden was with Dave Checketts going into the meeting. They seemed very friendly.
Apparently Dave has alot of influential friends... can only be good!

Thanks to all for the updates. I'm stuck in Japan for a couple more days so I'm out of the loop.

I didn't realize ticket sales were so healthy already. The news keeps getting better.

I hope I've underestimated the club's ability to generate public support for the stadium. My take has been that RSL needs to pay more than half the construction costs to get the stadium built by 2007. Maybe not.

I'll never underestimate Dave Checketts and his connections in business and government. If anyone can get this deal done, it's Dave Checketts.

Cool!

You can attribute the lack of coverage on 4 to the fact that I had previous obligations... no one to go shoot the bloody thing. If I thought I could get away with it, I would have ditched the family gig. However, I am already in hot water for dedicating to much time to soccer stuff.

Good job Deuce, thanks for making the effort (and to Dadof3).

Checketts has friends everywhere. Former bishop of the man who owns the land in downtown, close friend of new Governor Huntsman, friend of Larry Miller.

So any word yet if the City will convince the County to get on board?
