I would have to agree with you - just trying to spark a little speculation/controversy.

Is it a FIFA policy or just a US policy? Costa Rica's home match against us WAS played on artificial turf...

Somebody help me to understand the city council!!! Reading that article as someone who lives outside of the county and is unfamiliar with the politics was unfuriating. I can appreciate them trying to look out for the money...make sure it is a good investment but it almost seems like they are going overboard just to look good. Also maybe I don't get it but I am pissed that they are even having this discussion when it seems that the state legislature appropriated those funds for the stadium as well as other projects. Somebody help me, please! Oh and ps...most famous team? Unless Uncle Dave is exagerating to make a sale I have to agree with Deuce it has got to be Manchester United or Real Madrid. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! Even if we lose 6-nil? That would suck, but seeing them on our pitch, taunting them, singing our hearts out for Real Salt Lake, that would be awesome!

politics = grandstanding. You have to make yourself look good if you want to stay in power. And trust me, they all are doing this "for the people, city and county" but they really like the publicity and power of being in office.

I couldn't imagine chanting "bauptista sucks!!!"

Neither could I, since Baptista's considered one of the best Brazilian attacking midfielders. In 2005, he had 38 goals in his 63 appearances for Sevilla FC.

there's the fun! I'm still going to chant to Baptista, "IT ALWAYS STARTS WITH A KISS ON THE CHEEK!"

I don't think anyone can blame the Council for asking the questions they do. It's their job.

The stadium deal has put a huge amount of pressure on them (mostly negative) and they can feel it. I think they were communicating that to the RSL presenters.

Also, I can't speak to whether LHM was given a free ride over the Delta Center. I don't remember any of it.

But that was a different time in SLC. We just had the old University stadium, the Salt Palace, and Derks Field. Also, the Jazz had been around for a while. I think LHM had a more solid case.
We have to admit, RSL is a bit of a gamble. It's a gamble worth taking, but still

Hey 37....! welcome back... I was just saying, yesterday, that we have not heard from you in a while!

I don't disagree with you on the pressure on the council folks but I will bet most of it is coming from people that are trying to protect the interests of the Larry-Man more than anything else!

I believe that the Larry Man is behind most of the negative press... because he stands to lose more than anyone else if the stadium is built and RSL succeed

I'm a little confused...the Larry-man owns Jordan Commons...having the stadium across the street would be a boon for his business interests there...or are you talking about competition for the Bees (or whatever they are called now) and for concerts at the Delta Center?

......and that bicycle race he is sponsoring this summer, and his new auto racing track in Tooele, and the indoor pointyball team that is renting out his arena.
