Anyone for an RSL Band?

I have no right to suggest this, since I won't be living in SLC for at least another three years. And someone else may already have suggested it, but . . .

I love the Kop Bands in the Premiership, like the old Sheffield Wednesday Kop Band (OK, they're about as far from the Premiership as you can get now, but they were there when it formed).

Don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence, but a Kop-style band is more like a college basketball pep band than a football marching band. All music, no marching.

Better yet, the brass band that follows the Dutch National Team everywhere is a good example. The band starts up the songs and chants, keeps the supporter groups on the same track, and drowns out the less talented singers (good on them, but not everyone stays on key).

It doesn't take much--some drummers and 5-6 brass to start. Maybe someone has the talent to play, since I sure don't. If it's coordinated with the chants and songs in the supporters' group, it can magnify the effect. And it's infectious with the rest of the crowd.

As far as I know, and I've been around the league, no other MLS team has a Kop-style band.

Just an idea.

OK, somebody at least shoot me down on this one. The silence is deafening. Very un-Loyalist behavior.

*shrug* Eh. Whatever. 😉

(It does remind me of a BYU football game with all the horn players moving side to side in rhythm to the song.. ya know?)

As long as there is a lot of noise I don't care... My only exception is plastic horns!
I don't play any instruments but I would be happy to listen to a Kop Band!

:D

I for one would prefer NOT to have a pep band.

OK, it's decided. But we can only use experienced kazoo players--we want a quality product. I suggest tryouts. Who's on the selection committee?
