1. All the complaining about this game by the fans. We were inches from a result several times and we played very well. We ended up losing by 1 goal on the road to the 1st place team in the league. Play that game in SLC and we get points. Relax people, things are looking up. That said...

2. Once again, when will the Chris Brown at fullback experiment end?

3. I'd like to see a goal in the run of play, but then again we almost had several.

But there was a ton to like. I'm impressed with Ballouchy - smart midfielder, doesn't make decisions with the ball like a rookie (knows when to move forward or back), needs to work on his D. Douglas was outstanding and really worked hard. The defensive pressure made me smile, and we had more sustained possession than we did at any time last year. Cheer up folks, if keep playing like we played in Dallas, we WILL earn points Saturday.
Here, here IBIK! I loved this game, though I was ultimately disappointed by the result. Medhi is quickly becoming my favorite player, Douglas is fun to watch, as is Cunningham. I have some concerns such as have been mentioned here, but am much more hopeful for the season after watching that game.

Of course, that old familiar thought has come back to nag me: "why can't we get a break?" That second goal by FCD was a fluke, the shots that we had on goal that "should have been". Hopefully, old man bad luck won't be hanging around us as much this year.

In case y'all didn't notice, there is a thread for things you LIKED from the game. Post there, too, if you so desire 🙂

I liked the fact that the team looked organized (for the most part)...

I liked the fact that when our offense starts to click, it will be extremely entertaining the watch...no boring cross it to the big guy, it will be all about great skills on the dribble, fast passing, quick teamwork...

I liked the fact that we didn't suck and we have a reason to watch this team the rest of the year...

I liked the fact that Cutler, for all of the criticism he took last year, appears to have improved and really did a pretty good job in the middle of the pitch...

I liked the fact that the last 5 minutes of the game we attacked like gangbusters and almost scored 2 or 3 goals (face it, the last 5 minutes of games last year were a foregone conclusion)...

I REALLY like the fact that our Reserves are undefeated after 2 road games... :jawdrop:

Oh, this was the things I didn't like thread...well...Brown...and Talley getting punked twice (even though the second time he punked himself)...that's it...

Thanks to Deuce's blog, I know now that Cabrera played in the reserve game.

Maybe he's smelling up the joint during practice?

I have to imagine that Cabrera would know a thing or two about stopping Ruiz.

My 1st post wasn't directed at Burningator (or necessarily anyone on this site or the RCB site). It was more a complaint about the attitude in the soccer community around town. Personally I'm more excited (and I think I have more reason to be) about this year's home opener than last year's.

By the way, did anybody else who has 4 VIP season tickets not get their parking pass in the mail?

I've been watching tons of soccer lately and I've noticed something about goals. This has lead me to create a theory, hereafter called IBIK's First Law of Soccer:
***90% of all goals occur due to 2 defensive mistakes and a bit of luck.***
Example 1 - Klein's goal: Foul on Cunningham (mistake 1), wall separates when Williams touches the ball (mistake 2), Klein worms it through (luck).
Example 2 - Dallas' 2nd goal: Brown misses the clearance with his head (mistake 1), Garlick allows an in-bounds rebound (mistake 2), ball falls right to Mark Wilson (luck).

I'm on to something, right? 🙂

I can dig it 😉 And I'm glad you're excited for this week's game. I am too! I hope it doesn't rain, because if it does, my mohawk is going to bleed. That would suck.

Being one that participated in the doom and gloom of last week, I was VERY worried about our team, and I was consequently very pleased within the first 5 minutes of the Dallas game to see us playing competitively. I just hope we don't have another game like our first one this season.

I think someone in the FO needs to take the Chivas game, edit it down to 15 minutes showing the major mistakes and giveaways made by our team, and I think they all need to watch it once a week until those same type of mistakes aren't being made anymore (some happened in Dallas, but thankfully, they had been reduced SIGNIFICANTLY in terms of number and importance). That's just my humble opinion.

When asked why he had taken such a low-percentage shot, he said, "I am Youri Djorkaeff."

The 2nd example actually had 3 mistakes? The 3rd was the fact that Torres didn't clear it out, but rather kicked it so that it rebounded off of Wilson's shin into the goal. Perhaps that's more bad luck than a mistake, though. So perhaps it is actually 2 mistakes and luck (good and/or bad)

I can't blame Torres for that.....the ball fell to him and Wilson was right there. There wasn't much else he could do. It's not like Wilson was 10 yards away and Torres nailed him with the clear.

I don't think they will. If anything, we'll see the opposite problem. With a big home crowd I think they'll be so pumped they might play too hard at first, get worn out early, or pick up some early fouls deep in their own end. I want them to play hard but within themselves.

Torres is being much maligned for a player who was picking up the man who made the cross and was a good 15 yards away at the time our defender (who apparently will remain nameless 🙂 ) played the ball off Wilson...
