Keep Ellinger

I know there are some people out there who feel we should keep Coach Ellinger.

Make yourself heard!

Using Coach Ellinger as a scapegoat merely glosses over the fact that are players are not yet good enough to be a contending side. Several of our younger players have enough talent but not enough experience. Give them time to grow up. If Coach can't win with his young players in a couple of years, then fire him.

I say give him the rest of the month. If we lose to Columbus at home and get blown out by the CRpids then off with his head...
Until then, the season is young.

The typical Utah sports fan isn't going to support a losing team. If the team doesn't start winning now attendance will continue to drop. This just adds fuel for those opposed to providing any public funding for a stadium. only 16k showed up for the defending champs and Landon Donovan. You think next weeks match with the East's whipping boy will draw even 15k?

It's like that scene in Blazing Saddles, when the old lady brings the sheriff a pie........

Loud and clear. It is naive to assume that changing a coach at this point would be helpful. The fact is that we have all seen the players play well, beat great teams (LA, Dallas) and come awfully close but for the bounce of a ball and the whim of a referee we should have won more. It is player’s effort mostly that has let us down, inconsistency and attitude. I'm not saying that coach is without problems, no coach is, but to replace him with someone else out there that is unemployed is just asking for trouble, someone else mentioned 3 coaches for Chivas in 2005, we're an expansion team, we're made up of cast off to put it crudely. It's a work in progress and the impatience of some fans (admittedly born from frustration and desire to see the team win) doesn't help. This isn't Chicago back in the day when you picked who you wanted. Changing Coach E won't help, I didn't see him fumble the ball to Landon or see him lose Cobi when our other most senior player was marking him in, it was players, I don't hear anyone saying, 'great strategy coach put in play that got us a goal in 6 minutes'. It's so easy to be an armchair coach when you simply don’t know ALL the facts and none of us really do know all the facts. None of us.

BTW -

I'm not saying that we need to win the MLS cup or even our division this year or next or the year after. I would like to, but I'm a reasonable man. However, I would at least like us to compete. I would like a win, or at the very least, a tie. I for once would like to see us look like the team that was more prepared to play than the other guys. Saying that Coach E should have 3 or 4 years before finally developing sufficient talent to string a couple of wins is absolutely unreasonable. Our team is clearly out coached in every match, whether it's players not following through to get garbage goals (Cunningham at least 2 times during the redbulls game), players jumping up celebrating a no goal (don't know who it was but it happened in the dynamo game). I can wait 3 - 4 years before winning a cup...sure. I can wait longer than that. But we have to be able to compete NOW...and I don't feel that way simply because I'm part of some generation that wants things immediately.

If coach E remains here and the team continues to flounder under his poor leadership, than there will be no debate about where the stadium gets built. I've said this before, I've got nothing against him, but I am paying for this product and I am not happy with my purchase. Simple as that.
