Lots of people don't even know him yet.. but they will. Next month will be a huge coming out party for Toni, and he will probably end up at Madrid or Chelsea or Man U or something (he is a player who doesn't stick with his team, or else Palermo would probably be in Champioins this year.)

I agree, there are several other players that make Milan go. That is precisely the reason Sheva is in my top 7. Milan is stacked with talent and Sheva still means the world to Milan. He puts up big numbers year after year. He had 19 goals in Serie A, but even more impressive were his Champions League leading 9 goals against the best Europe has to offer.
I also think Toni is an incredible tallent, but he IS Fiorentina. If Toni doesn't score, there isn't much of anyone else on that roster who would. He has been a relative unknown because he was a late bloomer and not many people follow/ed Palermo (One of my Cane Corsos is named Palermo). He's no young pup either, he's already 29.

You make a great point about both Sheva and Toni. Sheva could probably go on the list.. of course these things are very subjective, it's only a matter of time before someone puts Watson on the list.

Regardless of his age, though, Toni has been spectacular and will probably end up getting a huge payday somewhere. I think he's going to have a big World Cup. He has the luxury of Totti and the rest of the Azzuri too, whereas Sheva doesn't have much help from the Ukrainians...

It's sad to see that in todays age players are criticized for staying with their team, even when they are not elite. Totti was born and raised in Rome, he has professed love for AS Roma since he started with their youth team when he was a teenager. Then other teams offer him big money but he sticks with his team, stays true.. and gets criticized for "stay at a team tat accomplishes little" That is sad, Scholesy. I personally love it when a player sticks with his team.

Holy crap mate maybe I should explain every freaking post with a little smiley face to draw a diagram for you when I'm playing with you or joking. You can't really have taken my tongue in cheek comments about obviously one of the best players Italy has seen as a serious knock unless you were looking for a fight? Why is it so many people here look for a fight to get into with people?

Joke ... tongue in cheek ... playing around ... messing about .... smiley face ... sarcasm ... 'aving a laugh .... pulling your plonker .... giddying the galley .... just messin' ....

Are you giving up smoking or something? Don't be so defensive ... just so you know ... just joking ... messing with ya ... playing .... 🙂

How does that work for you? Clear that I'm only playing? Geesh relax.

I also think Toni is going to have a big World Cup. Those of you who don't know him, put him on your list of those to watch. He's actually turning 29 tomorrow, but had his first cap for the Azzuri last year (thus the late bloomer comment). He is a big, (6 foot 4, 200 lb) dominating target forward. He causes all sorts of headaches for defenses.

Wow, Scholesy. I think you are confusing me for someone a lot less good-natured. Did it really sound like I was fighting with you? I just listed some of Totti's recent accolades, and how I liked the fact that he sticks with Roma. RSLfrf and I were just having a nice discussion about Sheva and Toni...

where did all this defensive stuff come from? I had taken no offense, I was in no way upset, I just said what I like about Totti. I don't think I need relaxing, as you are the one pulling out the holy crap, freaking, drawing diagrams, quitting smoking stuff.

I just wanted to talk about who I think are the best players in the world.

Okay, that was wierd...

anyway, another player I was thinking about, but ultimately isn't probably there (yet?) was Michael Ballack. Does anyone think he could make the list?

Ballack - not on my top 7 yet, but his stock could also go way up depending on his performance at the World Cup, and you have to like those odds playing for the host nation and their cupcake group.
