You're right, it was Gooch.

3-0 Czech Rep. We sucked. We had the majority of possession, but did nothing with it. We couldn't do anything inside the 18. I don't blame Gooch for messing up on the second and third goals, he's a rookie. But I do blame Eddie for not marking Koller on the first. Just horrible defense.

The ref made a few surprising calls, not MLS ref bad, but still not great.

I think we just didn't come out ready for this match. We thought we had it in the bag. BIG MISTAKE. We have to beat Italy and Ghana or we're gone.

EJ was a good sub at the half, he brought some energy to our offense. He got shots off, he had some good passes, but we just couldn't finish at all. Just horrible. And where the heck was McBride? He did nothing. Beas had a horrible first touch all game, but thank goodness for his speed. Landycakes played well in the second half, but he only touched the ball once or twice. KK played well, but this ball just killed him, especially on the second goal. Pablo doesn't even play for his club team, why is he playing for the national team? John O'Brien played okay, but his play didn't help because we played horrible as a team. Reyna! He got so close by hitting the post! GAH!!

Strategy vs. Italy: Work as a team. Find out how to work inside the 18. Come out strong. Don't be over confident. Wear white (superstition is worth a try after losing this bad).

All I have to say now is GO GHANA!!!!

We need a Ghana-Italy draw.

Feels like 1998 all over again.

There is one statistic from the US/Czech match that tells the story.

Cech didn't have one save to make. Not one.

I wasn't too far off on my predictions. At least I got all the winners.

Final scores:
Australia 3 : 1 Japan
USA 0 : 3 Czech Rep.
Italy 2 : 0 Ghana

US really needs to beat Italy on Saturday to have a chance of advancing.

If Italy wins on Saturday, they'll have six points and we'll only have a possibility of three from one game remaining. If it's a tie on Saturday, then what? Italy would have 4, USA woudl have 1. So if Italy lost to Czech Republic and we beat Ghana, Italy and USA would each have four? How is it determined at that point?

Goal differential. We need to score and score a lot the next couple of games. we really dug ourselves a HUGE hole with that 3-0 loss.
