Sandy still alive?

The team hasn't responded, but it sounds like the County Council is considering a new plan to keep the team at the Sandy site. Who knows how this will play out.

#1 Caroon still isn't on board.... yet.

#2. Funny how this new proposal comes out after Dave tells the council to essentially go to hell.

#3. Sage coucnil Dave:
Fool me once, shame on you..
Fool me twice, shame on me...
fool me a third time, I'll put my boot up your...

It does not really sound any better to me.

The parking revenue was one of the points on the RES hit list. but then if the County controls the parking I am sure that the per event rate will be less than what RSL will want the average person to pay.

The more I think about it the more I am hoping for the Geneva thing.

1) Salt Lake County will get nothing...

2) Larry gets to keep his monopoly on the Salt Lake Valley... with that, I assume that way it will get done...

3) Dave gets land w/ no rent, infrastructure really cheap and parking revenes... I just hope that the rates will be reasonable... considering there will be no trax.

I thought they were putting TRAX and Commuter Rail down that way.

Also, what about South Davis County - essentially North Salt Lake? Either venue would take me about as long to get to from my current location.

The population growth up North here is nothing like it is down South. There is very little space left up here where there still seems to be plenty in Utah County.

The worst part about Vineyard is the travel for a lot of those coming from Ogden on down. (looking at luvmyboys and thatsportsfan and all others).

but RSL won last night. I don't want anything to detract from that.

I agree. I have a hard time believing that RSL will be as successful down in Utah County, and perhaps may even fail there. I still think Sandy or downtown were the ideal spots, but because it's likely that neither will happen, we speculate on the next best choices. I think the South Davis option is the best because it would take about the same amount of time to get there for UC'ers as it does to get to RES (driving up 4th or any of the side roads is a mess, as is coming in on Foothill from I-80 or 215.). That way you wouldn't lose the normal UC'ers, and may even gain some North Davis people. At least, that's how I see it, anyway.

Although, the Cup has a good point. There may be more room for growth south than north, and perhaps the future population center of the Wasatch front really will be Utah County.

As big of a fan that i am, i can't attend near as many games if the stadium is in Orem/Provo. I really don't feel like that is the best option for the team.

I'd vote for the woods cross area. there is a ton of land out west and it's starting to grow too so a nice development out there would fit.

Since the stadium deal included a gateway type mall, can you see one being successful in Provo when there are already other very successful malls there? Other than Layton, there is nothing in davis county or north worth visiting to shop. Everyone i know travels to SLC for shopping so one in that NSLC of woods cross area would be succesful in my mind.

i hate to be all negative but despite everyone working hard to get something done, i am a RSL fan, and RSL fans are used to losing things. i just don't see anything getting done.

I don't think there's a chance in Hades that the stadium would land in Utah County, but I do think it could be successful down here. You're all right about population growth. It's crazy down here with the number of homes going in, and the new developments in the southern end of the SL valley such as Daybreak are really only about 35 minutes.

There would definitely be a lot of disgruntled season ticket holders who wouldn't renew, but there is a huge crowd down here who'd love to fill their seats, myself being first on the list and members of my family being #s 3, 4, 5.... Right now we all get together for watch parties. If it were closer, we'd pony up and actually go to the games. So anyway... there is no location (including downtown or Sandy) that would cater to every person who wants to watch RSL. But there would still be a lot of people who'd attend in the UC. (Granted... probably not as many on average as there are right now.)

Still, it won't happen, despite how hard I stare in the southwestern direction and wish.

To address a couple of your posted comments aerick.

The Trax/Commuter rail is about 10 years away to Utah County. It will be ready in Davis County as early as 2008 according to this video from UTA.
According to the UTA Website there are 4 initiatives ahead of the Utah county line on the UTA Agenda.
1) The Commuter Rail North to Weber County (Map)
2) Mid-Jordan Extention (Map in PDF)
3) Bus Rapid Transit (Sounds like it is going to be HOV style lanes for buses only, with the bus getting priority over street signals.)
4) West Valley Extension (Map in PDF)
No mention of Utah County extension or the Airport extention.

The South Davis thing would be good. However if I remember correctly that entire idea was cooked up by a fan... I don't recall seeing anything about it other than on this board and BS.
Of course if you have links that would be cool and I will look at them...

It is kinda like last year when the "West of the Gateway" thing kept coming up. There was no mention of that anywhere but on the forums.
Since then i think I have seen it once in the paper but I can't recall when or which one.

I think we should be discussing actual locations that the team may see plans for.

So far I can think of
1) Sandy (in the paper today)
2) Utah County - Geneva (From Dave Checketts)
3) The 3rd West chunk near I-15 (David James article yesterday, and by far my overall favorite, but may not be real either)
4) Fairpark. (Rocky Anderson)

If I am forgetting any please say so.

Oh yeah did you see that match yesterday! Great game, more of the same... Please

GO RSL!!!
