Buzzmaster: We've got Jeff!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Riptide (Sandy): Now that they are building a stadium which is going to be incredible. What do you think the next step is for this franchise? Thanks, Cunningham for MVP! Go ReAL!!! Jeff Cunningham: Obviously, making the playoffs and winning trophies. They've invested a lot into this club and now we need to start winning trophies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonathan - Salt Lake City: Jeff, Do you ever hear us razzing the other teams players from right behind their bench? Does this help Real? Do you appreciate the Real supporters razzing the other teams (razzing not abuse)? Would you prefer to hear only chears for Real? Thanks for making this year so great for us fans. Jeff Cunningham: Definitely. I do hear them. Having the fan support at home makes it easier for us to play. They're definitely the 12th man. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott (Pasadena, CA): Jeff, great job this year with RSL. What do you attribute your goal-scoring success to? Jeff Cunningham: I feel like I have a lot to prove on the pitch. I may play with a chip on my shoulder. It's my hunger to score and it's my teammates allowing me to have good opportunities to score. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben(Oakland): How big was it for the league that the all stars beat Chealsea? Jeff Cunningham: I think it's great for the league to show that we have players in the league that can compete at a high level. No bigger club than Chelsea to show the caliber of players we have here. As a result, I think people look differently at our league. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt (Salt Lake City): Hey Jeff, how do you decide whether to wear you hair in braids or to fro it out? Jeff Cunningham: To tell the truth, there's not many people that can braid hair around here. Sometimes I have no choice but to leave it out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonathan, Bedford, MA: What are your feelings on the expansion of MLS (with Toronto coming in next year)? Jeff Cunningham: I think it's great. I don't know how it's going to effect the U.S. players that will be playing on that team. I know in the NBA, a lot of players don't want to play for the Raptors because of tax reasons. But I think it's great for the league to have a Canadian audience and support. Jeff Cunningham: It gives me an opportunity to extend my career by a year or two -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nuno(Dallas): If you could play for any team in the world who would it be? Jeff Cunningham: Growing up, I always wanted to play for Liverpool. I enjoy Spainish football. Any club in that league would be great. Spainish style of football is great and I think I could adjust quickly to that league. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrel(NyC): hey Jeff. With all the Us youth training and development systems, why do you think the Us has not had much success in youth and full national competition? Jeff Cunningham: I've been in the U17 and done well. Not recently, but in the past. We've had success at the youth level. And not this past World Cup, but the one before, we did well. I think we're making strides and we are getting better. I don't necessarily believe that we're not improving. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edaw slc, ut: how have you enjoyed your time in SLC? What do you do when you are not on the field? Jeff Cunningham: It took me a little bit to feel settled. It was a big cultural difference from where I came from. It took me a little bit to feel welcomed. People have been very supportive of me here and now. Off the pitch, I don't really do much. I don't really have a life outside of soccer, to be honest. I've tried taking up golfing, but that's not me. I've tried taking up biking in the mountains, but then they have mountain lions and I'm afraid of them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zach (Columbus, OH): Do you ever want to come back and play in Columbus again? We love your sense of humor here, and we really could use a 15 goal scorer! Jeff Cunningham: Yeah, I feel like I wouldn't mind finishing my career out there. I think over the years, I made some good people in the community. I definitely would like to get the opportunity for a career after football. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eddie(Boston): Who is the fastest player in the MLS? Me and my buddies have had this debate Jeff Cunningham: I was going to say Cornell, but recently Harris on my team. He was very close to being an Olympian in the 400 meters. Jeff Cunningham: I could probably get most guys in the first 15-20 yards, but then the young guys would probably take me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allen (Long Beach, CA): Hi Jeff, do you hope to continue your U.S. National team career once training begins again? Jeff Cunningham: I would hope so. Brian is 34 and he's been part of the national team. I'm only 30 and I feel like I can still play and get another opportunity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allen(Seattle): Any advice for young players like myself? Jeff Cunningham: That's an interesting question. Believe in yourself, for one. Along the way, you may not make the team or a coach may not believe in you. So it's important to believe in yourself and try to improve. Never be satisfied. There's always areas that you can improve upon. Try to keep improving every opportunity you get, every training session. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Real fan (UtaH): How long do you think its going to be before you pass Jason Kreis and become MLS all time leading scorer? My prediction is by next season. Jeff Cunningham: I haven't even thought about it. I don't even know how many goals Jason has. I haven't even thought about it, to be honest. I'm just trying to be the first black person in the league to get to 100. I haven't even thought about being No. 1. Jeff Cunningham: A few years from now, people are going to be talking about me, because I was the first black person to do it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff, Philadelphia, PA: What has been your most memorable moment from your soccer career, both professional and collegiate? Jeff Cunningham: Professionally, my first international cap in South Korea. I don't remember how many fans were there. That was by far my most memorable. The fans were very passionate about the game and I enjoyed it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Baltimore, MD: Do you believe that your presence in MLS will help raise the awareness of the beautiful game among the african-american communities in the U.S.? Jeff Cunningham: Of course. I feel like every time I go the youth leagues and black kids or minority kids are playing. When I started out, I was always the only one on the team. Now, minorities are on the teams. Parents in those communities are more involved in the leagues. I think the league can do a good job too of putting minority players in marketing of the league. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Henry(Jamestown): Great chat! What do you think it will take for the MLS to become an "elite" league and attract foreign players. Jeff Cunningham: Time. Those leagues have been around for 100 years. It will take time and more money. To get more European players, you have to pay them well. That's when the league's going to improve. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jordan (SLC): Jeff we love you here in SLC. Thanks for all of your hard work and deication to the team. Were you excited to come and play here? I know when I heard the news of the trade I was extatic to have such a great goal scorer coming to play here and it is definitely showing right now. Jeff Cunningham: When I found out I wasn't sure how I would do on the turf. I knew the other players that were brought in, I would have a good opportunity. I was excited about the group of guys that were coming here. But the pitch, I was concerned with playing and training on it on a daily basis. But I've adjusted and things are going well right now. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Taylor (salt lake city, Utah): Jeff, We love having you in Utah. I hope you stay a while and continue your form. My question is this: What and are you aspirations for a national team and what kind of offers have you had to play over seas? Even though I would love for you to stay it would be fun to see you in one of the top flight leagues in the world. Jeff Cunningham: Aspirations with the national team, none. I'm hoping to be a part of it. But I guess at my age and a new coach coming in, they might be looking to go with younger guys. I'm not sure I'll be a part of it. As far as Europe, that's definitely a possibility. We'll see how things go at the end of this season. Jeff Cunningham: I appreciate the support over the years. I enjoy playing the game because of the fans. For the Real fans, I look forward to making the playoffs and making a run at the cup. __________________
When my mother was pregnant with me they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later they discovered that I had reabsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby. | |||||

He's scared of mountain lions! I was wondering why I couldn't sleep last night (outside of the ringing from my ears) and now I know why. I did not know this little tidbit. I'm sure having read this, i'll now sleep like a baby. __________________

I did think that was really funny. I have lived almost my entire life here and although I am not an avid outdoors man, I do spend quite a bit of time in the mountains and I have never seen a mountain lion. All his answers seemed like they were stock answers skimming the top. | |||||

So we can rest safe in the knowledge he won't be a BYU fan... but other than that... I am afraid of mountain lions too... I would not want to meet one in a dark alley, for instance... I like that he is focussed on soccer and nothing else really matters to him... | |||||
