Jafet Soto He won't be on the field until his work permit comes through, but Jafet Soto is on his way to RSL:

He was in Mexico for a long time and I thought he was about 34 or so. It's good to see that he is younger. Lots of Mexican teams have guys who are worse taking up foreigner spots; so we are lucky to have him.
He should add some punch to our offense, but we also thought that Chris Klein would, too. Are we going to have to move salary to sign him? Or is he a "we have to make the team look slightly better than the 99 Metrostars or nobody in Rochester will put down a season ticket deposit" allocation.

I guess what I worry about is whether he is in shape just ending their off-season. I guess we'll see. It still makes me wonder why we don't take a cue from DC United and maximize these foreigner spots.

Jafet Soto Jafet Soto will be joining RSL by this Saturday. Nobody will be cut to make this roster move, however Trembly will be placed on the injured list for the rest of the year.
Soto played in Mexico for 10 years and has roughly 86 caps for Costa Rica. He plays left mid and is a very attack minded. (sorry, some how I didn't see the thread already on this)

Thanks for the news. Now, I can yell "Dale, Tico" even more.

Sounds like a good experienced player who has been around for a while.

Now that Soto is in town, any guesses as to how the lineup is going to look? With Kreis moving to midfield, it seems to me that Ballouchy and Klein would be the most likely to be taken off (anyone know what wing Soto plays?), but Douglas looked a lot sharper (than awful) last game, so I think that he could also get a starting position back if he continues to look good.
Anyone got a guess? | |||||

Soto might share time with Ballouchy and Kreis (when he is a-mid).
But with the team gelling right now, real stupid to change anything about lineup.
