🙂 This is huge!

This has got the be the biggest soccer thing to happen in the state of Utah since the announcement of the ReAL expansion team. I have never seen a WCQ match in person and can't wait.

Good lord I am excited about this! I keep on reading the Tribune article over and over. Haven't seen the US Men's team play since the match against Romania in the Rose Bowl in the 94 World Cup.

Someone pinch me and tell me that I'm not dreaming. First RSL, then Kreis, Mathis, Pope. Now a WCQ. Holy, holy doggy doo. I thought a WCQ would be in the works but not until we had our own SSS. To have it come so soon is a dream come true!!! June 4th is going to be a glorious day. I'd like to see RES packed with 40, 50 - even 60,000 fans and really show the federation what soccer in Utah is all about.

Kudos to Peter Richins for getting the scoop ahead of DesNews.

Maybe it will change here, but in the past, it's been one ticket for both games.

In addition to selling tickets via MLS clubs, previous WCQ venues have sold tickets via youth clubs, youth associations, etc.

I was at US - Costa Rica in Torrance in 1985 (not fun) and I was at US - Costa Rica in Portland in 1997 (lots of fun).

I wonder how they're going to work it for the season ticket holders? Since the ticket prices for WCQs are higher than MLS, are they going to make us pay the difference or are they going to be cool and just give us the credit as a season ticket holder perk?

So, it sounds like we'll have real grass at RES for atleast a third of the season! They said they would have to put down the sod a month before June 4 and they would leave it until Ute football season starts. That's great news as well. No pointyball lines!

I love the RSL FO... always and forever, always and forever.

Not necessarily. What it says is:

"the field at Rice-Eccles will have to be covered over with sod at least a month in advance. The sod probably will remain in place for a few more of Real's games before being removed for the Utah football season."

That doesn't necessarily mean it will be on until the pointy ball season.

How else do you interpret it? It says atleast a month in advance and it will removed for the Utah football season. Isn't that what I said? With the cost of doing this, I would imagine they would leave it down as long as possible.

That would suck. There are only so many people who would accept having someone sit on their lap for the game...

Sorry, I live in UC. I'm used to stadiums with the capacity of 60K+

Let's just say I hope there are 45,634 people at the June 4th match.
