Sorry, Goreal. Those old tapes I sent you will just have to do for now, but I should be able to tape the English language version next weekend.
My Rabbit Ears managed to pull in a fuzzy picture, but it was not good enough to tape. By the time I could tune in, RSL was up 2-0. So we laid back while Dante Washington tried to mount a comeback. Jaime Moreno's, he's not. The Crew needed Buddle. When RSL did attack, it always seemed to be down the left side. The announcers said that Dipsy was the best player in the first half and Jay "El Pajaro" Nolly was the best in the 2nd half. Maybe they were trying to Wind Up their old teammate, but the Crew seemed to send a lot of their play towards Akwari. RSL did seem to play a few Longballs, but maybe we were just experimenting with WimbledonBall (or do we call it MiltonKeynesBall now?) because we were up by 2 goals. The announcers were good, better than some of the network guys. Brian Hall was your ref. It's good to see the refs get a preseason workout, too.

Game Report Brigham basic cable has the local spanish channels.
So I watched the first half. MY Observations: The Pipin Stadium field is a great advertizement for artifical turf! The coral sand base showed through all over: In the middle where it showed between the grain drill rows where they attempted to seed it and in the car tracks on the near side. The drainage was not too good either. Of course, the narrow field was practice for the trips to San Jose. The full system of play must not have been in place when the game was played. Particularly on defense, The full backs seemed to be playing the "15 yard stake and chain zone defense" my AYSO opponent coaches used. There was no switching or planned backup and no back line participation in the offense. Maybe Eddie Pope will change that. Dipsy seemed to be the only playmaker out there, and he did a great job.

Actually its spelled Pepin. From the stands it looked good. I agree that the play could have been better. Remember this was Pope's first game with RSL so they might have been rusty (no pun intended) in the backline. Mathis didn't do much and thanks to Selolwane, Kreis looked great.
