Real SL and Multi Level Marketing So I heard recently that Real Salt Lake is funded largely by a Multi Level Marketing company (Xango).....excuse me while I ralph.....
I am so tired of MLM companies invading Utah and even taking over our beloved sports teams. Why are Mormons so in love with this pathetic type of business? I hope everyone will go see the new Comedy about Multi Level Marketing. It's coming out in Utah in April. It's called Believe. go to www.believethemovie.com Watch the video clips. The best is the Mark Fuller instructional Videos.

Mentally Klueless Hey MovieKlipsAre4Girls,
Anyone who equates MLM with Mormons is an idiot. You must be someone who's been scathed by a direct sells representative and deemed the whole system as "ralph." Chances are you're part of a MLM structure yourself, but don't realize it and instead of being able to grow and expand at your potential you're stuck in a "just over broke" (JOB) scenario. Instead, you're working for your "upline" (manager, director, etc) and getting no passive income. And there's only two ways to get passive income: being a business owner or owning real estate. So unless you have a form of passive income - your opinion doesn't hold much. If you're also a person that equates lawsuits against a company as being completely bad, find me a company that hasn't had one that generates a substantial revenue. They simply don't exist, because so many people just want easy money and/or they're emotionally unstable. There are plenty of great MLM companies out there offering wonderful products. So instead of spending thousands to millions of dollars in marketing to media companies (like movies do) they're giving it to the people actually doing all the work (all the multiple levels of people selling the product). Now I'm curious, does the MK in your username stand for Mary Kay (another direct-sells company)? If so thanks for the free advertisement. However, Mary Kay does have products for men. So one hint for not sounding like an idiot in the future - maybe you should get your facts straight before posting. Oh and for the record XanGo is spelled with capital G (kind of like the D in McDonald's). Cheers!

RSL is not 'funded largely' by Xango. But, Xango did purchase front of the jersey advertising space, the first explicit such advertising in MLS (Red Bull New York being the other, but that is a team owned by Red Bull). It is a substantial amount of money, but far from 'funding largely' because the team could operate in financial competence without that money.
MLMs do appear particularly prevalent in Utah. The greater emphasis and trust in hierarchical structures wherein lowly ranked persons often rise to higher rank in the LDS church probably contributes to this prevalence. I think MLMs are inherently bogus and have since long before I moved to Utah and buddies tried to get me involved in Amway and others. The main problem I have with Xango is their willingness to link their juices to health benefits that have little to no scientific support. That is another strange Utah fascination, with alternative medicine/nutricuticals. I find that particularly bewildering considering the excellent level of scientific, technical and medical research and application in Utah. I look forward to the movie, this is the first I've heard of it. Quote:

I'm thinking maybe the MK is for Mary Kay. Googled the moniker and got a few hits, some of which were associated with Mary Kay. Overall, however, this person appears to be just promoting their anti-MLM attitude and the movie.

Of course the MK stands for Mary Kay! You guys sure are sharp. Why do I call myself that? Just for fun. It's just a little pun that kind of expresses my angst for MLM companies.
Did you know that you are more likely to make money in Las Vegas than you are to make money in MLM. Did you know that the attrition rate for people in MLM is 70% in the first year, 90% in the first 3 years? Did you know that the average person in Quixtar makes a whopping $1400 per year (comes from their own financial statements)? Do you know anyone that has actually made a profit in MLM? When you take in all that they spend on trips and tapes and product it is very rare that anyone makes a profit. I have many friends who are or were in MLM. Guess what...none of them are making or have ever made a profit. But guess what, I know electricians, clerks, secretaries, even janitors that work hard and come out with a profit at the end of the year. Is it more likely to meet the Pope than to meet someone who has made a profit in MLM....PROBABLY! And yes, I am supporting the movie. It is a great message that we all need to hear about here in Utah. It just bugs me that it has become such a regular part of our culture that we have MLM companies supporting our sports teams....which are sacred to me. So check it out! http://believethemovie.com/trailers.php Balancecut, you remind me of Mark Fuller, one of the characters in Believe. You should really study these videos.

Sorry Balancecut, I meant itzjonas is like Mark Fuller. You seem like you think....so you definitely wouldn't be in the same category. By the way, MovieKlipsareforgirls was pretty funny, I laughed. Go ahead, use your powerfully creative MLM manipulated brain to think of some more. Throw them at me!

Hey Kreis, YOU BET!!! I would love to be in your downline!! I only have a few requests.
I want you to invite me to some big convention with flashing lights and people singing and rolling up in their rental Escalades. I want there to be a HUGE statue of a money sign "$" in gold behind the stage. I want there to be a line of people coming up to me and lying to me about how incredible I am and how I am going to be the next SUPERSTAR Distributor. Then I want us to have some kind of cultic chant...something like "MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY....WE....WILL....ACHIEVE.....FREEDOM....WITH......MONEY MONEY MONEY...." This will help me zone out my logic and think only about earning more and more money. And have the people standing next to me shout out every time the person speaking says the word "MONEY" so I am caught off guard and stop thinking and fall into a brainwash pattern. Put a beautiful woman next to me and have her nudge me and giggle any time someone says something that is supposed to be funny so I start to feel special. Then I want you to lie about how much money you make and convince me that I can make about $500,000 more than I actually can. Give me some water in a bottle and some cookies so I feel like I've really been wined and dined. Then after I have spent the $500 up-front fee I want you to send me a bill and charge me for the cookies and water and for the premium grade gas that was used to bus me 3,000 miles from my home. Oh....and could you toss in a couple cds, books, tapes and t-shirts for an extra $250? Man...does that sound good! Do you think we could get Freddy Adu in the downline. We could just turn every soccer game into one big convention and convert every person there. WOOOOO.....I am EXCITED!! YEAHH!!

It sounds like you have been burned by an MLM in the past. Is your experience typical or are you upset because it didn't work out for you? I really don't know that much about MLMs so I'm just wondering. __________________
