Good BYU sports site My boss runs http://www.cougarfan.com I'm not sure he has much about soccer on it as he's a big North American football nut, but there are forums there for other sports not specifically mentioned in the forums. I'm sure if enough of you BYU soccer fans went on there, he might start a soccer thread.

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that we couldn't discuss BYU soccer here. I was just trying to promote John's site a little bit and thought that since it's BYU specific that you might find some soccer fanatics there as well. I will go post a link to this forum over there and maybe we we'll see some BYU soccer nuts join this forum.

BYU opens up a can on San Diego, who played in the Pro soccer league last year. The loss leaves San Diego 0-0-3 for the year so far. (You didn't happen to catch the match did you Rover?)
BYU opens with 4-0 road win BYU Cougars News Release - www.byusoccer.com Friday, May 13, 2005 SAN DIEGO, CA -- The BYU men’s soccer team came on strong in the second half, scoring four goals against the San Diego Gauchos Friday night to open the 2005 season with a 4-0 win. It marks the second time in three years since joining the Premier Development League the Cougars have opened their season with a victory. “It’s a great start, getting three points on a road is fantastic,” BYU coach Chris Watkins said. “To get these points is huge. If we can build on this tomorrow it would be a great way to start the season.” PDL teams earn three points for a win and one for a tie. The teams were in the first half as each squad played solid defense, keeping each other out of the net. Watkins credited his team’s second half dominance to the players' fitness. “We’re a very fit team and we just exploded with energy,” Watkins said. “They barely crossed the half in the second.” Defender Brad Peterson scored the first goal off an assist from Ken Ojuka, who came off the bench in the second half. Ojuka proved his worth again, scoring the teams second goal to give BYU a 2-0 lead. Steve Magelby scored the next goal with BJ Pugmire, a freshman, recording the assist. The freshman finished off the rout with a goal of his own. The Cougars with play the Southern California Seahorses Saturday night in La Mirada, Calif. at 7 p.m. Last edited by AreliusII : 05-14-2005 at 01:39 PM. | |||||
