Donovan to Galaxy; Ruiz to Dallas!!!! Its true, they are working on this.
This is awesome for MLS, puzzling for Landon's future and bad news for RSL's run for the Cup. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-soccer25mar25,1,3879262.story?coll=la-headlines-sports&ctrack=1&cset=true

Wow. So....I guess SJ *doesn't* still have his rights, then?
Wonder if Ruiz would be happy with this...

I still think Donovan's rights are still owned by SJ, however Dallas has the highest allocation pick. I think some creative MLS player swapping is being done here. AEG owner (who owns 5 teams) wants Donovan at his favorite team (LA) and so MLS is making it happen.
Man, are the Quakes fans pissed!

Apparently SJ gave up Donovan's rights when they traded their allocation for him to the Metrostars. he has a girlfriend who is an actress living in LA and he wants to play there. Dallas is going to get the shaft on this one because I think Donovan only wants to play in LA.

As a former Quakes fan, I have to admit that I'm pissed. He could go anywhere else and it wouldn't matter at all, but to LA? Ugh. I hate LA. I guess that's what growing up in Northern California does to a person, but I hate LA.

Sometimes MLS seems really quite incestuous (for lack of a better term) to me... nothing like sending a player to his former arch-rival to promote team loyalty, you know? 🙄

Actually, I think SJ split the allocation in half and gave half to the Metros and spent the other half with a recent player acquisition. Not quite sure how the split works but seems to be kinda popular.

How's the fishing in Dallas?

I admit this one took me by surprise. Not so much that Donovan is going to a California team, but that the Galaxy are dealing Ruiz. He has been their offense since arriving there. Donovan raises exponentially the quality of the Galaxy midfield, but who's going to score their goals? The Galaxy should be favorites in the West anyway, but if you're worried about them, just remember these two facts. 1. It's a completely revamped team. We've got more team cohesion than they do, and we're the expansion team. 2. Steve Sampson. If nothing else, the California Derby just got more interesting . . .
