Here's the email for the Crapids fans who are in charge of the cup from their side:

mmm, waffles. Who wants to be the big boss on our side? I would be but I'm a student working 2 1/2 jobs and plus my arm hurts.

They don't seem very big... how big do we need?

Did everyone vote down the "old" K2 or Rosignol Ski?
I am partial to something a little less Ordinary!

Just a thought!

This is not my idea but I can't find the posts containing the idea so I will try to paraphrase.

With an old Ski,
1) it is something that has meaning to both groups and the area represented.
2) It is unique.
3) Plenty of room to engrave each yearly winner.... of course it will always be RSL/Loyalists
4) I can't remember but I liked the idea...

What do ya think?

I personally like a cup better. To me a cup seems like a prize, and an old ski seems like something I would find in my garage. I vote for a cup.

Maybe a "scale replica gold mining cart"

It is unique and roughly in the shape of a square cup.
It has meaning to the region and groups.

I am on a roll here someone stop me

Hwllo all. I'm kind of organizing the show from the Rapids side. We have a group together of Rapids and RSL fans and should start talking over the next few days. One of the ideas the Rapids fans in the group had was to have a vote on the trophy. The org. group would pick 4-5 options, then post them at various sites (BigSoccer, Rapidsfan.com, etc.) for Rapids and RSL supporters to vote on. This way we could have a Cup, a ski, a ice axe/pick, etc. as options and see what the fans want. I'm sure you'll hear more from the org. group in the next week or two, but I wanted to let people know that all the ideas will be considered.

I'm also hoping (With help from greenie, our IT guy), to get a website for the competition set up soon, and a seperate email for comments and suggestions. The address is intended for the org. group to have a central address to use for our discussions, we'll (hopefully) have a different address for comments and questions so that we don't get the two confused.

Thanks for all the ideas!

I can be the contact as long as I know what it is we want to say. I like the cup idea and I think it should be something nice, something the players are proud to hold up at the end of a match. I'm down for fund raising, and if no one is against it I'll get in touch with the Rapids and find out what they are willing to spend.

Hired. Neil is the main voice of the RSL side of the cup, unless somebody has the nerve to disagree with me, Neil AND Jake. Anybody? Anybody? 🙂

Okay, I thought not. 😉

I personally think the NAME of the competition should be meaningful and unique, but the award itself ought to be something classy-looking and nice. Probably something classic, like a cup or the silver bowl. I like the idea of something in silver tones, reminiscent of the snowy nature of our two climates.

I like the idea of something unique, however it is a committee and I am only brainstorming!
of course a cup is the most elegant and prestigious way to go.
Hopefully we can all agree on something in the end... I will support the majority decision...

Besides we are going to have the cup 99%* of the time so it better be a nice one!

* 1% allowing for flukes and pure luck for the Crapids
