This is what I heard from someone, and keep in mind that it is second hand information not anything of legitimate value. RSL told the U that they expected 25,000 people, even though they hadn't sold nearly that many tickets. The U smiled and said, sure...ok...whatever. Then they staffed the game with the number of people that were necessary for what they really expected to show up. And so...people couldn't get in and couldn't get food because it was all too slow. Unfortunately RSL is getting the bad press for the problem. I hope the U gives us a little respect in the future, but I don't count on it.

The thing that pissed me off the most about this "Rant" is the slanted way it's written. Obviously it's an editorial, but I would have liked to have heard a comment from someone from the teams FO explaining what happened. Although, I bet the FO would have accepted all responsibility just to keep their relationships with the stadium folks kosher.

That's the impression that I got also talking with a U. of U. staffer about a week before the game. I said "it's probably going to hit the 24.5K sellout mark", and the response was "yeah, right".
