  • Best communication I have seen from the team this season
  • I saw that spark that Clint and Jason are known for for a good 60 minutes of the game
  • Isaw a team that played with tons more energy, maybe misplaced at times, but still I would rather have energy and passion than none
  • I saw a really promising defense that honestly was not as bad as some made out to be, overall Nelson had a great game, Rusty was a star and Dunseth as ever was consistent and pretty solid, they talked with each other more than normal, Behncke was decent and was just a little out of his depth
  • We showed that we have the capacity to control and dictate a game against a good strike force, we controlled them for a good portion of the game if we can learn how to extend that into a full 90 minutes we'll be in great shape

I was watching on DirectKick so I couldn't see the whole field but those observations are right on the mark.

Rusty Pierce has been phenomenal from the first game--and I was not what you would call a Rusty fan during his Rev days. After watching his performances this year, I'm sold on this guy. He's as smart a defender as I've seen in the league, and is a team leader. Definitely the most underrated of the vets Ellinger picked to build the team.

Absolutely brilliant stuff. Now, if we could get those crosses on target . . .

I would appreciate some feedback though, I just tried to be a fan in the booth and to give my opinion on the tactics and play, hope it wasn't too bad, it was way harder than I thought it would be, but fun too.

I may have watched it on TV, but I listened to the internet broadcast of 1280. Much better than listening to the Quakes broadcast team, even if you and Hatch were on what seemed to be a 20 second delay behind what I was watching on the screen.

I'd tell you if I thought you were bad, but you weren't. Your comments were right on target, and helped to complement Hatch. We all know he's still learning the game. No major areas of improvement needed, but I'd go for more tactical analysis. I doubt everyone is as interested in that stuff, but on TV it's tough to see team shape and support. It appeared that Andy Williams disappeared for minutes at a time, but that doesn't mean he wasn't involved--we just couldn't see him on the screen. Stuff like that.

Keep up the good work.

Sounds like this would be a good email campaign. Let's get the "Scholsey for color commentator" going!

Cause if there's anything we do well on this board, it's email campaigns!

Sorry, couldn't resists. But seriously, I'd be interested in knowing what 1280's future plans are.

Yes, yes, and yes. The two acquisitions I was most wary about back in the day were "Hacker" Pierce and "Swiss Cheese" Countess. They are seriously playing like completely different players and making me look like an idiot for ever doubting them. I'm already lobbying for Tito for prez, and I don't think I'd mind seeing Delvin join in as a running mate.

Rusty, Pope, and Dreamboat make a nice 3/4 of our back line, with the Terminator backing them up in goal. It will be interesting to see who steps it up and claims that left back position as their own.

This would actually be a good email campaign. One to show our appreciation too. It's not whining or complaining about coverage. I'm sending mine off now.

I'll listen to Saturday's game tomorrow online and let you know what I think Scholesy.

As for Hatch, I started out not sure what to think of him. After listening through a few games online, he's really not that bad. His goal calls could use a little work, but really he is giving soccer a legitimate shot. Call me crazy but I don't mind his term for the box ("the kitchen"). He's giving his pbp his own flavor and I can respect that.

my opinions.

I'm sure he was fine on the radio, but I want Scholesy over in E32 with us.

Thanks

You know it really makes me feel better to have some feedback from people who know the sport, and i mean really know it. I've always thought that the game from a fans point of view is slightly different and I tried to put that into the colour last night, players are great and all but sometimes have a slightly different view than the average fan, me? I'm just a fan.

If you would like to email RSL and 1280 that would be an underserved but appreciated gesture, very kind thank you.

You know, you are dead on with Hatch, he tries really hard and has only added in a few of his own terms and as much as I made fun of him for the kitchen thing, it really does show his personality and that's a good thing because he has a big personality and is really getting into soccer.

Anyway, thanks again for your support, I will try better if there is a next time to improve on the tactical information on the pitch as a whole and what the teams appear to be doing.

thanks again.

You know the funniest thing was that I kept on having to turn off my mic and so did ryan cause I was forever screaming and shouting! I couldn't stop laughing, Ryan kept looking at me like I was mad cause eventually I was just doing all the above but silently, it must have been weird to see me jumping up and down and not hearing any noise!

I definately miss sitting in the crowd though, my wife and kids missed me down there too, it was tough not to be down there in the thick of it. It was cool though because I could hear you all from way up there on the 6th floor.

I don't remember what they call it, but the EPL game with the fans calling the game is one of my favorites. I usually fall asleep to that Thursday nights. Those guys crack me up. It wouldn't hurt to have a little of that type of emotion in the broadcast. I'm hoping I don't ever have to resort to the radio broadcast between the stadium and watch parties, but it is nice to know it is there.
