ESPNZone Fan Pack: Be on TV Did anyone else get this email?
Nothing looks better than packed stands full of fervent supporters in full voice shouting support for their favorite squad. And it's even better when that support is shown to the country on ESPN2! Order your ESPNZone Fan Pack now for tickets that guarantee you and your friends prime seating space directly in view of the cameras for your team's ESPN2 games. ESPN2 will judge each team's fanbase at RadioShack⢠Soccer Saturdays and will announce a winner of the best fans at the end of the season. You could also win tickets to MLS Cup 2005 in Dallas this year hmm, I hope that they change the camera view so that it is pointed directly on the Loyalists

They're going to announce, at the end of the season, who has the best crowd. Right now I would say it's between RSL and L.A. I already have my season tickets so this ESPN plan doesn't apply to me, but if someone reading this doesn't have season tickets, well, either get season tickets or get this ESPN plan I'd say. I hope we can show MLS that SLC has the best fans in the country.

Sounds good. But having been to a couple of Galaxy games this year already and having attended games around the league, I'd say it's between RSL and DCU, with Chicago always a threat. They might even go for cheetos as a sympathy vote. But RSL fans--and The Loyalists in particular--haved impressed a lot of people around the league. The Galaxy gets big crowds, but they aren't particularly loud most of the time. The Riot Squad chants most of the games, but they usually chant alone. OBTW, I'm in Kansas City this week so I took some fellow Marines--and MLS newbies--to see the KC-Metro game. Not a good choice. Not only was the soccer mediocre (REALLY missed Wolff and Zavagnin in particular), but the fans in KC did not come through either. Midweek game, for sure, and a big cavernous stadium to fill, but it was a completely lame experience. The biggest cheer came during the "Magic Minutes," a three minute period in the second half when eveyone would win a pizzas if the Wizards scored. They didn't, and the 7K and change went back to sitting on their hands. How bad was it? To make it seem like there was more cheering, the club stuck a mike next to the supporters club and piped their chants over the PA system. I was not impressed. So we may have competition, but it won't be from Kansas City.

I think this might be a variation (or under a different name) of an initiative the league was planning with supporters clubs.
Dysko attended an online meeting regarding this. Essentially they would give us cheap tickets to sell. The best seller and best stadium atmosphere would get a party to end all parties, $$?, and be featured in the '06 "we are a soccer nation" ads. Our "contest time" was planned for Aug 6 v. Chivas. Dysko may be receiving more info.
