After you guys left our cheering sorta died out. We had a lot of quiet time. A couple of guys started getting loud in the absense of sustained singing. Their choice of language wasn't the best, but they came over by us looking to sing which is a good thing. Other supporters' clubs have designated song/chant leaders, and I would nominate alianza and fuegote for the job. When it works best it is with people who are loud, outgoing, and not *too* intent on watching every little thing in the game. This makes life a lot easier for the drummers too. (In some supporters clubs (like with Chicago's) the main drummer is often on a platform mostly with his back to the field.

I don't know but I was in E33 for the RSL game and I witnessed an interesting altercation. An older man yelled (because the game was loud, I think) to an RSL fan a row ahead of him, asking if they were going to stand the whole game. The individual yelled back loudly, and rather rudely IMHO, that they were going to stand up the whole game because it was the "Loyalists" section, that it was posted that they could do so, and that since they had "season tickets" they could do whatever the heck they pleased and that if the old man didn't want to stand up he could go somewhere else. As I recall... isn't it section E32 that is the Loyalists open seating/standing section? E33, just to the south, is not a part of the Loyalist section even though sometimes it un-officially spills over there. The people behind the 'loyalist' happened to be FC Dallas fans. Does that change your mind? 😕 Anyhow, my reactions to the game: * We need AA to come and get us un-addicted to the 'hail mary' forward pass. * Some FC Dallas guy complimented the Loyalists on his way out saying something about how he wished they had something like us. * We had some (maybe two or three) excellent crosses or rebounds that went unused because the two people nearest the goal were on the wings and the midfielders were checking to make sure the midfield line was still there. * Williams had better effort. More towards Trembley than the other direction... His rocket shot on goal was the only one Garlick had to dive for a save. * Speaking of shots on goal... too bad Trembley didn't put that freebie away!

Let me explain why I left on Saturday My little girl was blessed yesterday, the day after the WCQ. I spent about 16 hours in the sun friday and saturday getting my yard to look great for the event (because of course, family is coming over afterward).
Also, my wife, after six weeks, is still having post partum symptoms which, if they strike, are pretty strong. So after yelling and enjoying myself for the WCQ (and being in the sun for 3 more hours), I got a call from my wife who needed me home. Like Arelius, only one thing comes between me and "my footy" and that's my wife. She felt bad she "took" me from the match, i let her know it's okay, the Loyalists will live 😉. Thanks for understanding Loyalists, I really wish I could have been there for FC. that being said, the commentator with Hatch, (i forgot his name) is the best in the league. He needs to do all the matches. __________________
When my mother was pregnant with me they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later they discovered that I had reabsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.

I agree... I was listening to the extended post-game show (way to go loyalist e-mails!) and he had some excellent comments. I always enjoy hearing what he has to say. It doesn't hurt that his British(?) accent makes him sound like an expert. ha ha. He said on air something to the effect of "Thank goodness, at least we're not Chivas!". 😎 That made my drive home a little better.

I had graduated that morning...and after graduation I headed up with fuegote to the WCQ...In other words I ditched the family ( wife she is 7 1/2 months preganant) after graduation and went to the match...I promised them I wouldn't stay for the RSL match so the family could celebrate the graduation thing.
I won't miss another RSL match... Last edited by alianza : 06-06-2005 at 01:32 PM.

thanks, all.
I think that goal #1 for The Loyalists is stadium atmosphere. We got plenty of props for the tailgate and carbeque but all that is secondary to me. If any of you are hidding out in the shade or taking heat from people who only want an occasional "ooh" or "aah" then consider joining us. You don't have to sit next to or in front of a drum or cowbell. I think there are any number of people who could be the "chant leader". It's best if we try to past the word across and up the section. That way we do better. Assimilate into ONE voice. Drunken rogues beware! I'm a third generation teacher and my dad was a cop. 😎

I think a great way to do this is if we hold up a sign scream out a number so everyone knows what chant we are going to do. Old Ska..props on the cards you handed out....
