Here's my two cents.
Utah county is not for everyone. I love Utah county AND I completely understand why others loathe it. Someday I would like to settle in the Payson/Elk Ridge/Mapleton area. I like the idea of living among like-minded people (this is the same reason some prefer the Bay Area, or Miami, or any other community with a strong stereotype). If fact, Utah was founded on the concept of Zionism or a gathering and fostering of like-minded people. The trick is you must travel, read, get a worldy education, and generally put forth an effort to understand the world around you. If you follow these actions, it doesn't matter where you live.

Wow! I thought I was turning it off-topic when I mentioned being neighbors with Alianza or something...

I would like to think that if I moved to Utah and want to be near the team then I would aim to be near the future stadium. What exactly is the address of the Block 22? 🙂

As for Pres. Bush and the LDS Church, I have a collection of Bush and Hinckley pictures I clipped from the newspapers over the years. I am not sure what Bush thinks of the Church, but I know he likes them as voters. I know the Prophet likes him.

The prophet likes everybody. That's his job. That doesn't mean he approves of his politics. Or disapproves. That's NOT his job. 🙂

You must not know the history of the Hinckley family.

Well, since we are so far off topic here is some trivia:

How many members of the First presidency have held elected office as Democrats?

How many as Republicans?

Rep for a complete answer.

First off I am going to change this thread title to:
"Utah County and the Church (with some passing notice of Prime's plight)"

Lastly, to answer Ska's question:
No idea. I know that Pres. Hinckley was a GOP delegate in the past. But besides that, I would guess that perhaps Pres. Monson was possibly a past Democrat-elected official over Pres. Faust. Its possible that Monson's trip to Toronto liberalized him. Then again, Faust did serve in Brazil for a time...
🙂
So whats the answer?
