New Lineup This Week?

Ellinger mentioned on 1280 this morning that there will be some changes for the LA game this week and he said we should get a taste of the changes in the friendly tomorrow. When pressed he said that we will see Dante Washington up front with Clint or Jason. So what does everyone think the lineup will be?

He also mentioned that the game tomorrow might be a good chance for Besagno to start in the d-mid by himself. I bet he goes with a 4-4-2, at least for the friendly tomorrow night. He also said that he isn't going to leave Besagno by himself against Landon for 90 minutes too. I'm not sure if that means that they will play a 3-5-2 Saturday or simply have Besagno come in as a sub.

We will also have Pope back for the weekend in LA, but he will be tired.

I'm not sure about Saturday, but I am expecting to see quite a few of our reserves playing for a chance on the first team Wednesday.

..hmm, no Williams eh? Might be a good idea.

I'm not sure if our problems are necessarily personel-related. We just need our players to stop watching the play and get involved. Nobody ever supports the attack, which proceeds to fizzle out. We also need to go forward with more urgency and more quickly, in my humble opinion.

Scrap my earlier lineup altogether. I'm hearing that Ellinger will go with a 4-4-2 against Universidad. Unless they're embarassed, he'll most likely keep that for the Galaxy game. Here's the Universidad starting XI (Massive changes):

Countess
?????? Dunseth Behnke Kamler
Besagno
Brown Kreis Williams
Mathis Washington

Don't really know what to say about it, really. Let's just hope Tinkerman (Ellinger) doesn't get too carried away--making massive changes in the wake of every defeat.

not to mention he hasnt played with the guys in like, 2 and half weeks.

i think we need to shift to a 4-4-2. the midfield is justing getting too clogged up, guys seem a little timid because they are not sure what role to play. it was like that with mathis and williams. mathis seems more comfortable in the middle. i wouldnt mind seeing that lineup except modified for the 4-4-2

----------------DJ
Pierce---Dunny----Pope---Rojas
--------------Kamler
Brown-------------------Trembly
-------------Mathis
----Washington------Kreis

we need to shoot the f'in ball. guys seem scared to pull the trigger. they are 20 out and then dont want to shoot. williams finally got a decent shot off from about 20 out in the dallas game right before half. i was just pleased to see that. there needs to be a little more. and cleatus needs to get his shots on frame. im not sure i have seen him take one shot on frame. all his free kicks have gone well over or wide. everyone and their mother knows he can put in some amazing shots and he is usually pretty accurate, but it seems like nothing is happening right now. someone other than kreis needs to be taking some shots. seems like everyone is just comfortable with letting the jason kreis superstar take them all. kreis has taken 27 shots, 14 of which have been on goal. next is mathis at 21 shots, and a torrid 4 shots on goal, after that its brown with 14 shots and 3 shots on goal. nobody but kreis has more than 4 shots on goal. thats just blah. is it me or do we just not have shooters on this team? kreis.......and then nothing. either we need to start training to shoot, or give one of the younger guys (cila, luke, watson, etc) a chance to get some shots or we need to think about a trade. washington.....really hasnt had an opportunity. maybe we will see some more of him in the coming weeks. im surprised we havent seen more of the younger guys up front thus far. has nobody really stood out in the reserve games? you would think that one of those youngans would really fight to impress and get time up top. guess not though. we havent won a reserve game yet (except byu and utah select i believe, but.....yeeaaahh).

season is now a third over and nobody has really stepped up on this team and taken the reigns as a true leader and captain. we have seen DJ, Kreis, and Pope in streaks come forward and be a real leader, but other than a couple games they just kinda fade, pope is just solid and does his job day in and day out. by the half way point i think we really need someone to fill this role. it probably will be kreis, clint, DJ, or pope, but they really arent proving it thus far.

oh and DJ needs to be more vocal. how many times have we seen the back line get beaten and he has to come out and make a save. its leading to a lot of soft goals. he needs to RIP that back line a new one and tell them to get their sh!t together. i think he has been lucky to have pope back there organizing them and when he has been gone DJ doesnt do a good enough job telling them what to do. come on man, they may not want to hear you chewing their asses out, but thats your job. when they screw up you have to lay into them and tell them what to do. watching the interview channel 2 did with him on the sports show after the game you could really hear he was not happy with the result. he said it was unacceptable, so why doesnt he just ream the guys out there. after mistakes he just seems to get pissed off, scream, and then nothing.

all well, maybe im just looking to much into this. the guys are probably tired with all thats been going on in the past 3 weeks and we have been shorthanded throughout. T & T guys are traveling alot, pope is traveling a lot. we have had quite a few games. and we got 3 this week. its probably taking a toll. i hope to see some solid improvement in the next month or two though or im going to be really concerned. especially in the attack. they are sure wearing me out with their play in the last 3 weeks. what a roller coaster of emotions, to do well in the first couple games, then drop a couple miserable games on the road, win a couple games at home, get shut out 3 games in a row. throw in a hell of a WCQ game and im pooped. whens the all star break? 😉 time for some rest and we are only a third of the way through.
