I heard on 1280 today that the AFL's top payed player, Tony Graziani, makes $150k. That makes MLS seem big-time, doesn't it!
Utah's AFL team will do very well. The Warriors which played in a lower league drew very well, so I'm sure the more established (19 seasons) AFL will do even better.

I'm not sure how many games I will go to, though. My football budget is pretty well eaten up by Aggies season tickets.

I was watching the Aussie Football League last week. When did they change the umpires uniforms to those new dreadful ones? I loved the white knee length jacket with hat. That was a sad change to see.

Not interested at this point. I crave any RSL talk on 1280 and get perturbed when they start talking AFL instead. Talk to me about it when they actually start playing.

I don't really understand some of feeling on this board that is anti-Jazz, anti-Stingers, anti-AFL, etc.

Probably the single biggest reason that Salt Lake got a MLS team was because of how well the Jazz have done. Fans have proven that they can and will support professional sports and the success of the Utah Jazz has paved the way for other sports.

As a sports fan, I want to see all the sports do well. I find it silly to hope the Stingers struggle, or secretly hope that the AFL flops in Utah. The success of pro sports in Utah only helps the state's image and all the other teams here. If you don't want to go to other sports, fine, but to hoping that they don't succeed will somehow make RSL and MLS look better? I don't understand that.

Hooray for all sports!!

Speaking of 1280, every time I hear Alema Harrington talk about RSL it makes me cringe (I wish I could stuff a giant crispy creme in his mouth to shut him up). Here's a guy that if I'm not mistaken, works for the new AFL franchise, and is trying to promote it. However, from what I understand, he has yet to attend an RSL game let alone a desire to attend one. Maybe I'm letting my emotions get to me, but that's just a bunch of crap.

I apologize for my rant...

If it were an NFL team I would be first in line for season tickets. Football (pointy-ball) is by far my favorite sport and I just can't get enough of it. I have watched a few AFL games on TV and it's a little different, but if I have a team to root for I know I'll get into it. I never followed MLS until RSL came to town, now I love it and I wonder how I ever lived without it. I'll probably be the same way with AFL, but I don't think I'll be buying season tickets unless they're a real deal like RSL season tickets. By the way, if you're not an RSL season ticket holder, you really should look into it. Even someone making minimum wage could afford it.

Every time I see arena football or indoor soccer on TV, I always find myself wishing I were watching the "real thing" instead. I loooove playing indoor, but it's just painful to watch (sorry Ska). To each his own, I guess.

The AFL will do very well in Utah, I predict, despite my general scrooginess.

I'm a general sports fan with soccer being at the top. Here's my beef with the AFL: They are second rate. If there is a badmitton match on espn on Sunday afternoon, you know you are watching the best badmitton athletes in the world. However, if you are watching AFL there is always that idea in the back of your head that these guys couldn't hack it in the NFL. It's like watching the Stingers or the PDL. I would rather watch the world's best lawn bowlers than AFL.
