I found some really old quotes about "football" and was thinking maybe we could use them in chants or songs (all [sic]):

Foote balle, wherein is nothing but beastly furie and exstreme violence
I am the verye foote-ball of the starres
England must always have a National Football, and you, at present, are that.
The coachman exclaimed .. "It's foot-ball day!"
I was diverted from a farther Observation of these combatants, by a Foot-ball Match.
Some, with many a merry shout.. Pursued the foot-ball play.
Ile not be strucken, my Lord. Nor tript neither, you base Foot-ball plaier.
At foote ball sport, thou shalt my champion be.
Lo! from far, I spy the Furies of the Foot-ball War.

Some of them are pretty cool.

Jake, those are great. I think we should use:

"We are the furies of the football war"

"Jason Kreis (insert whatever name), thou shalt our football champion be"

And before the game begins, we get the crowd going with:

"It's football day! It's football day!"

We'd have to come up with some melodic way of repeating these, of course. I think that's Loyal1's department!

😎

By the way, for those of you who haven't gotten this, here is a song that was submitted by Chris Keeney, Senior Director of Sales. We tried to get it at the Expansion Draft, but didn't quite get the melody. Once I recognized the melody, it was easy:

Sung to the tune of "Jesus Loves the Little Children".
You have to say "Ellinger's" fast to fit it in.

We're all part of Ellinger's Army.
We're all out to win the league.
And we'll really mess them up,
When we win the bloomin' cup.*
'Cause ReAL is the greatest football team.

(*he wrote, "When we win another cup", but I changed it 'cause we haven't won one yet. We can put it back, after we win it next year.)

to the tune of "We didn't start the fire" by Billy Joel

"He didn't start the fire
but his name is David
and he started my/our team"

pretty short...need to repeat or expand

to the tune of "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder

"We just scored and now we're winning.
We just scored and now we celebrate."

etc.

Hopefully we can use it numerous times.

If we're ripping off well-known songs, that opens up a lot of possibilities. How about, "Did you ever know that you're my hero?" when somebody does something superb? (A great save, a great steal, etc.)

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything we want you to be
We love Ellinger and Pastorino
For bringing you here to Salt Lake City

Okay, cheesy, but so what? The others aren't??

We should find out when the player's birthdays are and strike up a random "Happy Birthday To You" right before games start.

I'll think of more bad ideas later. They come naturally to me.

And, of course, when one of the players leaves mid-game:

We love you, Cli-i-int (or whoever)
Oh yes we do
We love you, Cli-i-int
And we'll be true!

When you're not with us
We're blue
Oh Cli-i-int
We love you!

For those that don't know the melody, it's very easy to pick up and will get stuck in your head. It's from "Bye Bye Birdie."

Hey everyone, I have a song that I downloaded off of the internet from a group by the name of Bouncing Souls. I'll make some copies and bring them to our next meeting but it goes like this (with a couple of word changes to fit us)

RSL no one can beat us
we drink milk and wear adidas
anytime we get the itch
we're off to find a proper pitch
lace yourself lets get on out
off we go to kick it about
win or lose we're having fun
we won't quit until we're done
we got heart when we play
take you on any day

ole-ole-ole-ole
ole--ole
ole-ole-ole-ole
ole-ole
