I also agree with mrstucki in that some of the lyrics don't quite fit the number of syllables needed for a particular line in order to match the flow of the tune. Some tweaking should be done there. mrstucki has shown his prowess in earlier threads with doing so, but we'll understand if you'd rather do it yourself - or leave it alone.

Also, I agree with Fuegote in that it was too high, and while I too wear my shattered "day after" voice with pride, if I can't even sing the hymn at the end of the game because of it's pitch, and if this same phenomenom occurs with others, it's effectiveness dwindles. Perhaps a couple of pre-game sessions to rehearse it before we actually have to put it to use, going through different pitches.

I don't think that anyone is resisting some constructive criticism. I think it is more of a question of where criticism of the Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Anthem happens, and who has the most input. Not that non-Rogue Cavaliers Brigade members can't comment by any means at all, but obviously for the anthem we want to take input from members the most seriously. And in that light, Mrstucki may not want to lend his music skills to such an endeavor and shouldn't be put in the akward position of having to say 'no'.

In a way I think that gohertha was originally trying to communicate this, albeit in a clumsy and even very brash way.

I have split the thread.

If you want to continue the interesting thread on forum discourse, I have moved those posts over to the off-topic area.

This forum is for discussion of matters related to the Rogue Cavaliers Brigade, and this thread to a discussion of the Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Anthem.

Ego is a dangerous things and yet we all have one that we polish from time to time.

I have received comments from all over the US in person and via the internet about how our cheering section is great. Opposing players and fans. (haven't heard from any refs yet)
I really hope that nothing happens so change that.

The idea of a hymn bounced around for months. A few guys tried to put something together but "All hail Real" was the first one to have an actual rendering.

I have long loved the melody to O Canada. I think it's the best national anthem I've heard. Props to that choice. I love to sing it though I don't know it as well as some of you.

I think that a stadium full of people singing anything is impressive. A US stadium singing the Canadian anthem may feed the fire of soccer fans are nuts/stupid/etc. Imagine Kevin Graham or Matt Thomas on that one.

I hope not be miss interpreted. I love the melody. I love the idea of an anthem. I sang it with full voice and will continue to do so.

My ignore list is still unused. A lot of us post some predicatable stuff.

It's a little disheartening to see lines drawn. We talk about having the entire stadium united doing something and then bicker over details.

Sort of reflects the troubling times on the field and in the locker room.

Thanks for the post.

Loyalists will always be more than welcome to sing the Rogue Cavaliers Brigade Anthem.

See, that's at the core of the issue. I haven't had the habit of granting license for others to use things developed by Loyalists.

I titled a collection of chants and songs as "Loyalist Tunes" at the start of the season. In retrospect that might not have been the thing to do. They are Real Salt Lake tunes.

Props to the guys for coming up with the anthem. But giving it the title like you did says its about you not the team.

Most of the chants are stolen from other supporter groups.

I'll steal a line from a guy who isn't using it any more:

as always, just my thoughts.

And I am sure my point of view on this is predictable: having a Rogue Cavaliers Brigade anthem is no different really from standing behaind a Loyalists banner. Well, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this issue for now. We clearly see these things in a fundamentally different way. I am sure that it will all work itself out.

Your point of view is appreciated.
