I'll have more "official" news after I make sure I'm on the same page with Glenn. Stay tuned. In the meantime, the PR committee can get going because I'm already acting as the head of that committee. I was appointed the "press secretary" earlier in the year by Glenn, and it has evolved into this. We can formalize that with the whole Loyalists membership later if needed.

At the risk of sounding like a "Confrontation Stink" whatever that means... Heaven forbid...

Aerick had a pretty good point...

I thought the Loyalists leadership were trying to make the operations of the Loyalists as transparent as possible... now you go and create a seperate group that discusses the operations in secret... I don't know it kind of sounds elitist to me...
Creating a mailing list that discusses Loyalist operations that is a few people and not an "Officially" sanctioned commitee is just adding fuel to the fire don't you think?

I don't think that Glenn had creating commitees to make Loyalist policy in mind when he said people should take the initiative...
When you were appointed Press Secretary I don't think commitee head was in the job title and looking at recent lapses in communications to the general populous about events suggests to me you should at least get the first responsibility in order before you go adding more responsibility that you will not have time to accomplish.

Obviously you do what you want in the name of improving the Loyalists but I think in that you will end up creationg more of an elitist feel... I mean I already feel excluded... because I don't want to join ANOTHER mailing list...

I am curious to what this forum is for... Is it just about cake recipes and which player has the cutest butt or is it about Supporting RSL...

If you want to support RSL and improve the Loyalists then show up to organized functions and actually lend a hand in the organized functions instead of paying lip service to imprioving the Loyalists and then creating a group that seems only a front to exclusionism and adds to the elitist mantra.

Call me a confrontational Stink or whatever but I can tell you that I have only had Supporting RSL and making the Loyalists a great organization in mind when i joined this group and i can see that people are insisting on being very much like a secret society... maybe i ought to run off to Italy and join Czar Jake...

I am pretty sure all the discussions will be available to see on the Google Group website, unless I am mistaken.

Jules?

I don't think Jules is being secretive about this. Email is just another form of communication. The Committee idea is based on taking big issues and tackling with a focused smaller group. I think its great.

I mean, if you are really worried about being left out, the problem is easily solved.
Join the group.

Be kind. Jules - you too in your reply. 🙂

Deuce, Jules and I talked about my concerns via IM, and I'm much less concerned now. Jules is heading in the right direction, and essentially has the blessing of Glenn in doing so (but is confirming before she continues). I agree that this stuff needs to be out in the open, and I'm not the biggest fan of mailing lists either, and would prefer that our organizational discussions and matters be done via this forum as well, but perhaps there's an aspect of mailing lists that allows for this type of thing to occur in a more organized and efficient manner. Therefore, the jury's still out on this method for me. If indeed we did go with mailing lists, I would agree that the "minutes" of our various committee meetings should be made public - likely through this forum or on the website.

I'm glad you brought up issues that I hadn't thought of. Let's see where to start... 😉

Anybody who is a Loyalist can join. It's not secret. The committees were approved by Glenn at the pair of meetings last month. I consider that officially sactioned. The committees do not "create policy" but they certainly will do stuff. Anything that is done will be approved and sactioned directly through the appointed leader. At the Orem meeting, the leadership decided who would be in charge of each committee. I'll find those notes and post them later. So each committee will report directly to either Glenn, Steve or Dave for approval and funding.

Essentially, I am not creating more work. I am creating a committee to help me do the work that is already assigned to me. I am currently responsible for MOTM and the newsletter and whatever else "press secretary" may imply. As noted, I haven't done the best job lately. So the committee is being formed to farm out responsibility so that things can run more smoothly. At the SLC meeting, Glenn said I would be the leader of this committee. So I feel that I have the authority to call myself that.
That being said, I am not out to have all the control and title. If somebody else wants to do it, speak up and tell me or Glenn. Who is volunteering? I was never officially "voted" into my position. I was appointed by Glenn. If people have a problem with this, tell Glenn or hold a vote to formalize it. I don't care. You can oust me if you think I'm not doing a good enough job and I will wash my hands of the whole thing.

If there is an organized group of people trying to communicate with one another, there are limited options:
(1) Forum
(2) In person
(3) Email
(4) Conference call
(5) Snail mail
One of the people involved in the PR committee has stated that she does not come to this forum and doesn't want to. I don't want it here in this forum because this place is a hotbed of controversy. So #1 is out. I thought #3 is the best so I set it up that way. I believe that the group can be viewed as a webpage (forum style) if people prefer that. They can read the posts and reply on the website instead of via email. If this doesn't work, what woudl work better? I want this to be as smooth as possible so people can get involved and have fun.

It is to discuss what the PR committee is doing. IE who is going to write up MOTM this week, what things need to be added to the newsletter, any public relations catastrophes that need to be dealt with, etc. It is the last portion of that category that I feel should be kept within the Loyalists and not be public. I hope the reasoning behind that is self-evident and inoffensive. If not, let me know and i will explain.

I sense a small amount of hostility, implying that I am all about "lip service" and I don't "show up to organized functions and actually lend a hand in organized functions." Is this how people view me? I have a clear conscience regarding this. I don't show up to most of the social events like practices and watch parties, but I try to be there when it matters, even at considerable sacrifice to my husband and children. I brought food and chairs to the tailgate, I spend hours doing MOTM and newsletter stuff on a regular basis, I am probably the most involved in C10 stuff, etc.
I know that I am imperfect. I have problems. I also have other commitments. If you want me to step down, tell me and tell me who is going to take over my responsibilities. I'm happy to hand things over to somebody more qualified than myself or somebody who has more time, but I will not just walk away with nobody else to pick up the slack.
p.s. Deuce, you have actual concerns and I'm trying to respond to them. Nothing personal, we're still friends, right? Just trying to resolve concerns!

I hope my previous post helped clarify.

If anybody has suggestions on how things could be done differently, tell me. Saying "this doesn't work" is fine and I want to improve thigns, but just knowing something isn't ideal doesn't fix the problem! So come on, people, and let's figure out the best thing for everyone.

That is part of the problem... People are being way too kind...
Call a spade a spade... If you don't like another persons perspective... I am sorry but I have been on the recieving end of PM's and emails of ppl complaining because they don't want to get any one upset on the forum...
Well i think it is time that somebody rocked the boat for all those ppl that are too chicken :pooh: to speak up publicly...
I am a moderator and i can tell you all that ppl are not so kind in private... so why should I take all the crap while you guys all get to live in joyous ignorant bliss... I just thought I would share some of the load is all....

My opinion is what it is... but i can tell you... swapping places you would probably do the same
