Just because Sandy is willing to build it NOW

doesn't mean we should put it there.

I am just curious, because I have heard ppl talking this subject to death.

Are there ppl out there that will honestly not attend a match simply because the stadium is 15 minutes closer/further away?

Seriously?

I say this and it is strictly my own opinion. nothing more!

If anyone is so borderline a fan that they will not attend a match if it 15 minutes closer or further away than it is now at RES. PLEASE JUST STAY HOME... Go to a jazz game or stingers game... cos if anyone is so tight or lazy that they won't attend a match unless the stadium is built in their backyard then you will probably find many more reasons to not attend so save your money and time and don't bother.

Here is my solution... just move the team to Seattle or something cos obviously the fans in this area don't know a good thing when they see it... even if it jumps up and bites them on the bottom.

If ppl don't go to a match for a lame reason like that then they don't deserve a team. And they certainly don't deserve to be a fan.

The undecided fans will come if we have a good quality product on offer for a reasonable price... not because of the location of the stadium.

If you are a fan you will go...
When you have travelled to England or DC or Denver to see a match then come complain to me about how far you have to drive to see a match...

Just know my STRONG objection to the Sandy location is an objection to the location and not distance.

After all, the stadium will always be far away from someone.

I'm not sure if you're being targeted directly, but several people have mentioned distance as being a critical factor.

Thanks for your response on the difference between the two locations. I guess I'm just not all that convinced that it would make that much of a difference, business-wise. The surroundings or general area that the stadium is built in will make zero difference to me, but, of course, that's just me. Do you have any modern-day examples of stadiums that have performed better because of a more downtown location? I'd be interested to see some data, if there is any.

You are right... I was not arguing against your point... I was ranting about ppl complaining about the distance... not just here but on BS as well it goes as far back as the announcement of the team.

I agree with you that it SHOULD be built downtown... I want it downtown.

But reality and politics will probably disappoint both of us.
I will state once again that I will go wherever it is built and if building it in Sandy or timbuck 3 gets it built so we can get out of RES... then build it in Santaquin for all I care.

Just build it.

I welcome all kinds of fans. The hard-core fans. The occasional fans. The part-time fans (Hey Luis. What's up?). The out-of-town fans (Yo Ethan.) The lazy fans. The watch-it-on-TV fans. The opinionated fans. The mellow fans. The Rude and Crude Fans. The Loyal Fans. The Jestering Fans.

There are all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. For some people, 15 minutes either way might be a dealbreaker because it's already such a stretch on the budget, car, babysitting, or what have you. It doesn't mean they're less of a fan than others. It just means that maybe their circumstances have a lot more limitations than some others. For me, the 45 minute drive is a deal-breaker some days when I'm considering whether or not I can go to the game. That's $$ for gas, a boring drive alone, and most importantly 1.5 hours of babysitting that nobody else should have to do to support my hobby. Do I still come as often as I can? You BET I do. Does it mean that it's just logistically IMPOSSIBLE some days? Of course!

I think the FO will make this decision based on a hundred different factors, the likes of which we have hardly even touched on here. Will I attend as often as possible if the stadium is in downtown SLC? You bet. Bountiful? You bet. Logan? You bet. "As often as possible" will dwindle in number for some locations, but I'm not going to boycott the team or cry or pretend that I'm not a loyal fan because of that.

Loyal fans will come "as often as possible" no matter where it's built. For some, that means season tickets. For some that means one game a year. But the fact that one person's "as often as possible" means one game a year does not make them unwelcome in my book. Viva Real!

Although I have strong feelings on this (as everyone on the planet now knows)

I, of course, will also attend whatever the location.

But I'll grumble the first few times.

been a while since i posted on here, but since im in a mood and all.

i would like to redirect everyones attention for just a second to this: http://www.theloyalists.com/stadiumdesigns.htm

isnt it beautiful?

ok now that everyone has had a nice moment to breath and realize just how close we are to having something very similar.

some of us need to relax, things have been said that dont need to be repeated. lets just face it, to us these things are pretty much out of our hands. i like how everyone expresses their own opinion on the matter, but its getting to the point where we are almost fighting over this issue. we are all fans and (hopefully) we all do as much as we possibly can to attend games and support our team. lets face it, this is going to make some people upset and others happy. checketts and co. CANNOT please EVERYONE in this whole state. its logistically impossible to find a perfect location for this. im sure a majority would love it downtown (me included), but its not going to happen.

so, chill. breathe. lets let things fall into place and see where we can go from there. hopefully soon we will have a new anouncement about a big beautiful stadium that will ultimately be better than anything the cRapids can build 🙂
