Stadium Sites Narrowed

Stadium sites narrowed down to Sandy or Downtown according to SLTrib.

Nice update dysko.

You got to think:
1- Checketts still wants downtown
2- Sandy offers the best package.

I think Sandy will win at this point.

It's sounding more and more like the 2007 deadline isn't going to happen.

I agree. Sandy is probably offering the best deal, and RSL is holding out as long as possible, waiting for SLC to come up with SOMETHING...but it just ain't happening. Question is, how long will they wait before they just say "screw it" and go with Sandy?

Nobody has mentioned the most important thing from that article: the Fairpark is officially no longer in the running. Thank heavens.

I don't think any of us thought that would last long anyway.

I sincerely hope they keep it downtown. I can't drive any further than I do already.....especially with the gas prices....

I agree that unless Salt Lake comes up with something big that the best economics fit in Sandy. It's next to the Suth Towne Expo center... lots of extra parking?. It's next to Jordon Commons/South Towne Mall --> shopping, food, movies for post game parties. It's next to TRAX and they are eventually going to put a stop in right next to all of it. It's also pretty close to I-15.

Unless Salt Lake can top it I think they'll go with Sandy.

At the moment I don't mind because I live in Draper, 15 mins to the Stadium. I also think anywhere near TRAX if fabulous. I think, however, that Downtown is a much more meaningful area and lends itself to a Real SALT LAKE team. Anyhow, just get it built and I will be there, wherever THERE is.

Or that they're still looking at doing more development beside the physical stadium itself. That should help lessen the value of any public financing in the decision.
