I just don't understand how a destination stadium complex surrounded by acres of parking a la Super Target

is an acceptable solution only because a downtown stadium may take more time to get together.

I don't agree with the sentiment that "sooner is better". I believe "better is better"

Don't rush Sandy!

Wait on Downtown!

It's not about more time it's about never going to happen, and even if there were a miracle and everyone in the senate were listening to a certain 'talk' over the weekend and had a burst of powerful love and forgiveness and decided they could now work with Rocky (and vice-versa for that matter) it would be more like 5-6 years away not just an extra year. If it were an extra year I might be more inclined to say hold out but again I say we have to assume that Dave C is a very smart bloke who didn't just say, 'Oh, go on then chuck it up over here would ya boys'. We have to assume he knows exactly what he and his team are doing.

This week, next week?

I have heard numerous dates but I suspect very soon.

I, of course, will also attend whatever the location.

But I'll grumble the first few times.

Ok, that made me giggle, I can just picture you walking in to the stadium cursing under your breath and then bursting in to a cheer as you hear the kick off whistle and then grumbling with head down and kicking a stone on the way out ... it just made me laugh. Nice one.

😉

All this reminds me of the naming arguments. Everyone had their favorite name. Almost everyone (including me) thought that REAL would be a terrible name.

At the naming assembly, I didn't hear a single groan. All of a sudden, ReAL Salt Lake sounded like the ideal name! That was OUR TEAM'S Name! It's a GREAT NAME!

Even now, though, you still hear a grumble from someone, occasionally. Get it through your head. It's a dead issue! It's been decided! So now, IT'S A GREAT NAME! And I'll fight to the DEATH...well...to the PAIN...well...to the EMBARASSMENT, anyone who says different!

In other words, once the decision has been made, those who don't enjoy beating their heads against a brick wall will realize that that's the very best place for it. It couldn't possibly be better. And they will come and enjoy the games and support the team, which, in the end, is what it is really all about.
