Actually, in 20 years, Sandy will probably be the geographic, commerical, population "downtown" of the Salt Lake and Utah valleys. It's already becoming that now.

When this thing is finally built, not only are we gonna love it, but it will simply be the envy of the league. I haven't seen all (but I have seen many) of the designs for SSSs around the league, but I haven't seen anything to compare with what's coming our way. All of this discussion about Sandy or downtown will be forgotten when this complex finally opens. The Salt Lake Valley will become a mecca for US soccer.

The stadium and experiences will be great for those that make it great! We chatted about this last night after our loss, it isn't always about winning but the experiences you have along the way! With the friends we have made this year and the ones we will make in the future, it doesn't matter where the stadium is built, we will always have a GREAT time wherever we go! That's just the way it is!
Peace out~

Listen to the geography guy, he is absolutely right.

And it's a major problem.

Anyone ever been to LA? Hope you really liked it. Because it's coming to your neighborhood.

We don't have to live in LA, but we will as long as we choose this sort "now now now! Wherever wherever wherever!" development.

Also true, Utah needs to hire some decent urban planners and develop a sensible land use policy for urban areas.

In light of the terms used at yesterday's conference

"inspired", "visionary",

I would say, Old Ska, that is the understatement of the fv(king century.

By the way. I was disappointed to see that Bramble got off scott free. I thought there would be boos. The silent treatement never works.

I'm not counting on it anytime in my lifetime. I think I have to applaud some of the developments in Sandy, Draper and downtown SLC (especially Gateway area) as some of the few actually well-planned parts of the entire state. So much of this state is just uncontrolled sprawl that ends up looking like.... ugh.. shudder... state street in Orem....

I heard some boos. Directed at Bramble, that is. Just to clarify.

If you are talking about urban sprawl, I agree. Cali residents I knew when I lived there spoke of moving to Utah to escape it. Surprise!

However if you are talking about the stadium, you must not have listened to Checketts yesterday. He made it clear that he couldn't get enough land downtown to build what he wanted. End of story.
