I hope there are beer sales. Not because I want to get drunk and then get behind the wheel of my car; but there is someting enjoyable about having a cold beer on a hot day watching my favorite soccer team. I think the cut off times would be perfect.(Like last call) And, as mentioned before, it won't be cheap so that would personally deter me from having more than one beer. I think it should be option. Especially if we will be holding national games.

I could care less about the beer sales. I don't drink it. As long as they have water, I'm good. When it's hot out, nothing satisfies me more than a nice cold bottle of water.

These articles have been VERY interesting reads. Some of the most interesting of the season, in my opinion. A couple of items that I found particularly so are:

1 - Beer profits amount to about $1 per attendee per game. This is a LOT less than I thought. Someone on another board had indicated that this was more like a couple hundred thousand per game. When in reality it's only a couple hundred thousand per season. Still nothing to shake a stick at, but not the millions that I originally thought.

2- Lambert's comments on the legal recourse of Sandy using County money to help fund the stadium: "Lambert admitted there may be no legal recourse to get Salt Lake City's money back." This essentially indicates that using the money is indeed legal - though perhaps underhanded. However, I even have a hard time saying that because they will still use the allocated money to accomplish the purpose of the money - namely additional parking for the Expo Center. It's not like they are using it for something completely unrelated to what it was intended for.

I don't know if it's the 1 1/2, as that is how long my brother practices for soccer. I think it deals alot with the days off. Even on his days off my brother does some conditioning on his own just for the main reason of staying in shape. I know the season is long but it seemed several of the guys were running out gas late in the second half towards the end of the season. Sounds to me they weren't working to keep themselves in shape. If they only used the 1 1/2 each day I can see why they'd be out of shape. Just my thoughts here.

I don't really think it's about the number of hours they practice daily.

The MLS season is a lot longer than high school soccer or football seasons, and you can't practice four hours, five days a week for that long without probably coming to some sort of critical injury mass (shin splints, hamstring pulls, stress fractures) by the end of the season.

What I would be more concerned with is the quality and the type of conditioning.

We used to have to do three mile road runs in high school, which did absolutely nothing for me in terms of game conditioning. You need to have short sprints, jumping, getting up and down off the ground, more anaerobic type work to be really fit for soccer.

Having said all that, I have no clue what RSL's conditioning regimen is, but if they're not doing a significant amount of anaerobic conditioning, that would make a lot of sense, based on some of the effort level we've all seen on the field.

I've noticed them doing a lot more conditioning type stuff near the end of the season. More sprints and things like that.

I didn't see much of it most of the season though.

From a source that will remain unnamed:

"He (Dave Checketts) met with all the players and told them that they would be tested for their current fitness, VO2 capacities, fat %, etc. before they depart on 11/19. He, then said, if they return with worse scores, their future here would be in question immediately.":jawdrop:

That sounds about right. When I played in HS, if we lost a game, our coach's first order of business the following practice was forced "Indian Sprints" and "Suicide Runs".
Man, my legs still hurt and that was over ten years ago.

Considering the horrible results RSL had, they should be doing lots of punishment drills.
