Heck, we'll take Adu! |

I would love to have Freddy, but the problem I see is that it would be temporary at best. His ambition is to go to Europe as soon as possible. But I guess Adu for a season and a half is better than no Adu at all. We'd probably get an allocation when he left too so it wouldn't be like we'd lose anything if we traded our allocation to get him.

RSL can easily give him that. Nice fuel for conversation, right?

His inconsistency is worrying .. oh and whining about not getting playing time ... hello you're '16' years old, don't whine, learn and be humble, you're not good enough to play in Europe yet.

Honestly I don't know what he'd do for our game. If we're putting youngsters in, I'd rather see Jamie in there than Freddy. I like the confrontation Jamie brings.
I do, however, think Adu would be a feather in our cap that would bring our team publicity and more fans. At one game, I talked with some people who were planning on attending only one other game. They said they had purchased the D.C. game just to see Adu (but not cheer for him). That's just one story, but I think he would generate some interest.

Um, anyone who can actually finish would be welcome in my book, even if he does leave for Fake Burberry FC after a year.

Problem is, he is inconsistent. For the money, he's not worth it. He isn't exactly growing either. Remember how he bulked up in the off season? He's still getting muscled off the ball routinely and I don't see that changing. And if at 16 he's already mouthing off to the coach, I can just imagine what he'll be like at 18. The kid is destined for Europe. Let him go and take his lumps there, just like Landon did (twice). Freddymania has about played out anyway. If he wants to play on the world stage, let him prove himself like DeMarcus Beasley, who has only gotten better since moving to the Dutch League. __________________

I am not saying that Freddy is the Messiah, but he is a far better player than almost everyone RSL has now.
Is that even debatable? RSL would improve immensely if Adu joined. Besides, Watson and he are buddies and were roomates or something at the U17s.

The fact that Adu is a quality player with uncommon individual skills is not debatable. I'm just less interested than some because this latest whiney behavior is not the first time he's gone all pouty about playing time. Do we really need another prima donna? He--and his entourage from Nike and elsehwere--have made it clear that MLS is just a stop on his way to the EPL. So if we got him, we wouldn't have him for long before he's wanting out of here too. I want players on this team who are committed to the future of the club, not just their own. Nice talent, but my recommendation is to pass on this one. __________________

What, like it would be any worse than a certain current RSL midfielder who cost a lot of money and shall remain nameless? 😉

That was my first thought, too. "Come on, kid, you're only 16! You're in the MLS; the top league in this country. Your one of the highest paid stars of that league! You can afford to work with your coach and become the best player that you can be. But instead, your whining about playing time. If you continue to show that kind of attitude, you'll be lucky to find another team. Most coaches think they're the boss, for some silly reason." __________________
