I think you all are forgetting the New York/Los Angeles disease.

RSL, although we love it and think of it on the same lines as all the big teams.

MLS has a fixation with having all the "stars" in the "Big Markets" Freddy if he leaves DC... (I don't think MLS will let him) he will go to LA or New York.

Let's face it... how many ppl in London or Rome have heard of Real Salt Lake?
Now change that to How many have heard of the Metro-sexuals or the Galaxitives. Once you answer that question "honestly" you will see why MLS has a NY/LA fixation and why Freddy will go elsewhere, if he in fact goes anywhere.

Dude, you're so serious about this... I'm just having fun because there's nothing else to joke about.

I'm sure Watson gets a raise for next season. And do we know how much Gaven makes? If we could get Gaven and Watson for half of Cleetus' salary, that would work, right?
Don't forget that Nik and Jamie's salary are paid by the league, not RSL.

Just a discussion. I don't write the checks, so my level of seriousness is tempered by a lack of risk.

If there is a area that I want to see MLS grow up, it is the tendency to go for the gimmick too easily. Last year it was Freddymania, this year it was cheetomania. Neither were big successes, although of the two I think Adu has been better at consistently delivering off the field, if not on.

The legacy is longer than that, of course. MLS Shootouts. Clocks counting down, not up. Lothar Mattheus. Bora Milutinovic.

So rather than chase the quick fix I'd like to see us build a team on players who are committed to the club.
