a team source confirmed that RSL has reached a contract agreement with Costa Rican left back Daniel Torres.
Looks like we have another new face

Clavijo Expects Rejuvenated Mathis
I suppose we will see what happens but I think we had the same high hopes on this side of the mountain last season.

Time will tell.

I sincerely hope that Mathis has a good season, just not against us.

Torres will be a great addition, but of course we may very possibly lose him when Costa Rica travels to Germany.

Thanks for the update Deuce.

As for SI spots, I believe Torres is either a green card holder or at least under 25. Hence he would only use a Youth Int'l spot, not a SI.

I liked Broome & Pope in the back last year for the most part. I am surprised to see Cabrera only get honorable mention along with Akwari (which isn't a surprise). I still don't like Brown in the backline, I think he only plays "average" everywhere. Can't we have a starter that has an expertise in defending?
And Talley did well as a midfielder for Dallas last year, but I don't know about his defender abilities.

Coach E called Akwari the most improved player on the team last season. I hope we see more of him this season. I like the way he handled Ruiz in the win over FC Dallas and I think he was a real asset to the team. I am pleased with his performance. I am also glad he is still here.

Besides all of that I just forked out the cash to have his name and number on one of my many jerseys and I would hate to have a jersey with the name of a player that does not play. I mean besides Countess, Dunseth and Mathis. 🙂

I thought that this little bit,

"On the left side, Robert Scarlett appears to be the front-runner but should receive competition from Seth Trembly, Tiger Fitzpatrick and Adolfo Gregorio."

was very interesting. Doesn't that seem like a lot of weight on one position? Too bad the team can't have some of that talent spread around the field a bit.

Especially for left-sided players, Scilaci.

It appears that Torres doesn't have a green card and played as a SI for the Crew a 2 years ago.

I wonder what this means...

Either someone (including Torres) who should be a SI is getting a green card or one of the 4 existing SIs are getting the boot...

Back after gregorio and Scarlett signed on and played in their first reserve match, Gregorio was playing behind Scarlett on the left. The two of them in tandem like that were pretty awesome. They seemed to read each others' minds. Pretty cool for two players that never played together. I thought it was a natural combination, like Martin and Lewis or better yet, Stockton and Malone
I still don't understand why Gregorio was stuck out right in the rest of his appearances.
