I thought that this was a FIFA official friendly date? (Official friendly?)

Little known facts about Oguchi Onyewu:

-Evolution does not exist. There are just animals that Oguchi Onyewu allows to exist.

-Oguchi Onyewu sleeps with a nightlight. Oguchi Onyewu is not afraid of the dark. The dark is afraid of Oguchi Onyewu.

-Oguchi Onyewu doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

But he's not called up for the Germany game?

That's exactly right. FIFA required clubs to release players for the international friendlies earlier this month. Not the case for our friendly with Germany, and I'm not sure how many other FIFA-sanctioned dates are left for friendlies before WC2006, so the rest of our friendlies may be similar. One interesting thing about this friendly with Germany is that all German clubs have been required by Germany's football association to release players for this friendly. That's why our boys playing in Germany (Cherundolo, Keller, etc.) are available. Otherwise, we might not even have them for this game.

I, for one, think we're going to miss Dempsey, a lot! I like the way he's been playing with the Nats. Hopefully someone will be able to step in and step it up (Klein???)

Maybe that's one difference between "replica" and "authentic"... :eyebrow:

I thought that there weren't any more FIFA official friendly dates before the WC. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that is what I heard/read.

From what I heard on ESPN during the Poland rebroadcast, teams were not required to release players again until some time shortly before the WC - I can't remember the exact date, but I would assume it is mid-May. I would guess the US squad scheduled their last matches so that they could have the entire squad together tuning up before the WC.
