Official "Get Rid of Williams" Campaign Okay, I really feel Williams is not the man for attacking mid. He needs to be attacking on the bench. The only things I see out of him are his blazing 5 foot runs, and the flailing of his arms. He must go!!!

I think he is fine just not as a attacking midfielder, although if we trade him we might get a good defender

he played with about as much effort as anyone else did!

I entirely disagree with that statement. We were constantly beat through the middle. However, Brown had a bad game today as well. The difference is that this type of output is a constant with Williams. He needs to go.

I think it's the same problem as last year. Last year it was a question of Clint and Williams in the midfield at the same time. This year it's Williams and Ballouchy. MB's got a nice touch but I didn't think he did a good job on the left tonight. I'm not sure that's going to work out for the kid.
As for Williams, the AW you saw tonight is the same one you saw last year. I don't see the reason to be getting rid of him. Tonight was not his fault. __________________

I agree, it wasn't his entirely his fault, there are 11 players on the pitch. However, when one player doesn't do his job (Williams) it forces other players to split time with their job and doing his job. You saw that today with Sequira (sp). He was constanly having to mop up for Williams inability to perform as the attacking mid.

Sounds to me like you're faulting the sky for being blue. Sequiera's job on the pitch IS to mop up; that's not William's role.

I'd like to see blue skies actually, just like I'd like to see someone in the attacking mid position make plays. Just like the forecast, looks like gray skies ahead.
He has got to go... | |||||

My personal goat of the game was Chris Brown.
I can't remember seeing worse passing out of the back in my lifetime. If he wasn't hitting a Chivas player at their feet with the the ball then he was hanging out our players to dry with 50-50 medicine balls. Review the film and his pass completion percentage has to be in the teens. The mids can't do anything on offense if they never recieve the ball from the back line. Balouchy did alright for his first career start. I look forward to seeing more from him.

Here's my point, I'd just like to see RSL field 11 players that show that they want to be the "world class" team that they've talked about being. Since they've maded the comparisons, they are not playing at the high rate of play it takes to compete with the clubs across the Atlantic.
I'd like to say Williams had a bad game, but this is the same form he had last year. When you watch the games in Europe, it's hard to to deny that MLS, RSL in particular, is missing the attack minded and quick playing midfield. The transition that these teams have makes for an enjoyable match. Though I don't expect the young MLS to be there overnight, how do we expect to ever get there if we settle for the current output of some of the players in our league, namely Williams, and their inability to show any desire to win. It's one thing to say you want to win and another to go out and do it. Please don't take this as a negative towards MLS or RSL. I'm extremely glad we've had the league this long and look forward to many, many more. However, we can't just be complacent with a player, just because he is a veteran. The other teams (6 others I think) knew Williams was more trouble than he's worth, why can't we? Last edited by noxum : 04-02-2006 at 08:54 PM.
