REGULATORS! Mount up!
What good can a goalkeeper do all by his lonesome with 184 square feet to defend???

Agreed. Everything Garlick has given up this year is 1 v 1. How many breakaways from guys like Donovan, DeRo, Razov, and Guevara do you expect him to stop before he's good enough to be our starting keeper?

The GAA is not the best indicator of who's a good keeper and who's not. In high school our keeper had an amazing GAA of .3 because our defense was great - the only shots he ever saw were from long range & bad angles. He was all-state 2nd team, went to UCSB on a full ride where he got torched in fall camp, never saw the field, and lost his scholie. So you see, there's more to it than goals allowed.

On those rare occasions where RSL's D plays well, Garlick has already shown he's able to hold his own. Unfortunately too often he's being asked to do too much.

Garlick's GAA is bound to go up once Eddie goes to Germany.

Who will be our back line then. If we are left with Torres, Talley, Brown and Akwari. I think my hair will be as white as Garlicks by the end of that stretch.

My biggest disappointment is our Senior Internationals. We should use those on marquee quality guys and not on a guy who can't even displace Chris "Medicine Ball" Brown or Akwari.

Unfortunately for Garlick, the last game emphasized his 2 key weaknesses...crosses and 1v1s...and, predictably, he looked horrible. (He is also beyond pathetic distributing the ball with anything other than throws, but that isn't costing us goals...just possession).

More than whether he is a better keeper than Nolly, I think Garlick should be pulled simply due to his body language on Sat. It looked like he had given up. The only good news was that he wasn't trying to delay the game with RSL down a goal so he wouldn't get scored on again and screw up his GAA (see DJ, 2nd half of last season)...

If Garlick has lost confidence in his defense and is going to have bad body language...he must be replaced...NOW.

We might as well see what Nolly can do this year.

One can almost see Garlick move when watching that goal last night. I blinked when I saw it the first time, but I'm sure he moved a little when the ball what shot. :banpoop:
