Talley seems a little off to me (not sure if it is age or what), I sure would like to see Cabrera playing in his spot for at least a half.

Garlick has done exactly what I think he is expected to do...play smart and help Pope lead from the back. He doesn't make spectacular saves, but he doesn't let easy ones in either. He also knows when to come off his line (unlike a certain GK who once played here).

Concur on Garlick. He's what he's always been--a good MLS keeper. Not great. But good. He's in the Kevin Hartman mold of keepers who won't win you the game as a rule but won't lose it for you. Unless you count MLS Cup 1999, as all Galaxy fans surely remember.

Garlick needs a good defense in front of him--we shouldn't expect a bunch of spectacular saves from him. I guess I'm still reserving judgment because he's not been as strong in the PA as I expected him to be.

You are absolutely right. But when I say "natural position" I am making reference to Ellinger playing Kreis as attacking mid, Brown as a defender and Williams as a forward. Williams especially excels as a midfielder. Mostly offensive mid but he has worked well on the wing at times. Get him in the midfield where he belongs and figure out some arrangement to get him and Ballouchy on the pitch at the same time.

One thing that came to my mind about our team is that we don't have many winners on our team. We have a lot of good players, but we don't have a lot of winners. Guys like Andy Williams, Jeff Cunningham, Jason Kreis, and Scott Garlick are talented and good MLS calibre players, but how many of them have won the MLS Cup? How many? How many rings, so to speak, do we even have on the team? We have a lot of young guys who are learning to lose and other, more experienced guys who never learned how to win on a consistent basis.

My MLS experience is pretty new, but Cunningham came from Colorado and Columbus, two perennial losing teams. Wasn't Williams on the MetroStars and have they ever won? I don't know if Kries and Garlick ever won at FC Dallas/Burn.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that sure we have good players, but you also have to have guys who know how to win. And I'm not sure we have the latter.

Sounds good to me. Any suggestions on how that would look. Would you go with 3 or 4 backs? I don't think 3 is enough on turf. I guess the alternative is to pull Cutler off. What do you think of that?

I wouldn't mind pulling Cutler off the field at all.

-Garlick is GK still, not ready for Nolly IMHO
-Torres and Pope have done fairly well, but lets try Cabrera out there instead of Talley.
-Midfielders are Williams, Klein, Ballouchy, Sequira. Lets try Williams out wide and Ballouchy in a-mid.
-Kreis and Cunningham are the forwards. Period. If not them it should Harris, Watson, Johnson or Acosta.

Of course Kreis is out this week because of Quick Draw last Saturday. I would think Harris will start, but I think Johnson could be a good pick to.

I like your idea of Williams out wide, but only with 4 backs. There's no way that Williams is going to hustle as much as Klein and the second goal last week was because Klein could get back in time to help.

Who's the fourth back?

Williams completely outhustled Klein in the first half of the last game. The first goal last week was partially because of Andy's hustle.

OK. Wow! I'm not used to people claiming that Williams is good on the defensive side. How'd you think he did in Houston? I know a lot of people ripped him. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but ....

4th back: That was my question. Who would you put back there?
