Hmmm... Isn't Fairpark essentially between downtown and the airport???

Rocky gets to suggest a deal that seems to make sense to everyone...less tax money...better use of the Fairpark...the State is happy...allegedly the county is happy...etc.

Unfortunately, what Rocky either doesn't know or is ignoring is that RSL's private funding is based primarily on the hotel...not the stadium...and there is no way Checketts' private finaciers are going to go along with building a hotel at that location. It is too far away from downtown to be a downtown hotel...isn't close enough to the airport...isn't near a convention center like the Sandy location. Also, he is conveniently ignoring the fact that RSL has already purchased (binding agreement to purchase, maybe) the land in Sandy.

So, the only way this ends up a Fairpark is if Sandy cannot find any way to convince Carroon that theirs is the best deal...AND RSL coompletely reworks the private financing to get it done without the hotel.

Interesting times...and props to Rocky for finally playing the political timing game correctly.

Are you freaking kidding me? This is your idea of playing the political timing game correctly? The jackass does everything he can to be a prick and force the team to go elsewhere and then when the deal elsewhere is coming together months later he pulls his head out long enough to make a suggestion he knows ain't gonna happen. The jackass hadn't seen himself on TV recently and that's what prompted this.

I don't understand what Anderson has done to FORCE RSL away from SLC. I understand they haven't come up with prime downtown land but I wouldn't call that FORCING them away from SLC. It seems more like Sandy lured them with a better plan. A better plan that crashed and burned and the parties involved (RSL + Sandy's Maryor) seem to think will get passed after a couple minor changes.
