Although I chose Klinsmann from this list, ultimately I'd like to see someone at the level of:

Carlos Alberto Parreira
Luiz Felipe Scolari
Jose Pekerman
Sven Goran-Eriksson
Rudi Völler

I'd like to see the USSF go all out and get the best the world can offer.

Guus Hiddink - Current Australian coach also...next Russian coach (right?)

Frank Rijkaard.

Did I spell that right?

What's he going to do for an encore? Win La Liga, the European Cup and cure cancer?

He should leave now, let his legend grow and take over the US. If he wins with us; that's great for him. He can stay until 2014.

If he doesn't win, he gets to say, "What do you expect? I was coaching the country that starts Pablo Mastroeni" and he can go back to Europe and take any job he wants.

Thanks to Eddies Pope and Johnson, Damarcus, Gooch et al, the "soccer is a sport for suburbanites of European descent" libel is just about dead. But Coach Rijkaard would kill that crap once and for all.

Great suggestion. I was only looking at foreign national team coaches and had neglected foreign club coaches.

As long as we're dreaming, how about:

Arsene Wenger
Jose Mourinho
Alex Ferguson
Fabio Capello
Carlo Ancelotti
Vanderlei Luxemburgo
Carlos Queiroz
Vicente Del Bosque
Gordon Strachan
Martin O'Neill
Dick Advocaat
Martin Jol

I actually think Martin O'Neill would be a great fit with the USMNT...

How about Capello? Wasn't he rumored to have interest in the position at one point?

I'd say Spalletti but where would that leave my beloved AS Roma?
