July 11, 2006 County Council Meeting

Well folks...

Needless to say this is a very important meeting. It is terribly important that we show our support for RSL and the stadium the best we know how...either by attending in colors with our families, by sending letters and e-mails to our councilmembers, even calling them.

I fear for the team if the council decides to not go ahead with the stadium. My guess is that as it stands right now, there is a less than 50% chance that we get the stadium, and if that's the case, then we may as well say good-bye to the team. I hate to sound pessimistic, but Rice Eccles just won't work out long term. I believe that if this doesn't pass, next year we will be talking about how sad it is that RSL will be leaving for Rochester, and from now until then there will be ZERO effort to improve the team.

If RSL were to leave, then why would any other franchise want to locate here? This would set a terrible precident and send an even worse message to the sports community: "good luck on your own, you won't get any help from us."

See you all at the county building on July 11.

I'll be there too.

However, have faith in Uncle Dave.

If they vote down the stadium (which I fear is going to be the case) and Sandy dies I think Checketts will look for other options before moving the team.

I think he would take the Fairpark option if it were the only option left. If done right, the Fairpark could work.

But let's wait and see what those men and women of great vision vote on the 11th.

In the drama that is the RSL stadium it looks like we may have something good to report for a change...

Looks like a compromise is in the works that will see the stadium go to Sandy...

It will be interesting to see how this turns out... but it is not a done deal yet!

Please, please, PLEASE let this happen as the article indicates.

Although, the veto-proof 6th vote is still "elusive" and Corroon may still bump the table and bring down this fragile "house of cards". 🙁

Dear City Council

Please allow the ****tiest team to build a stadium. It makes sense that the worst team in MLS should get a stadium.

Please someone help me market this product?

I don't want to hear...at least we are improving...that is bull ****...

The only way the city council votes yes is because they are dumb asses period...

They helped a pretty crappy basketball team stick around. That team went on to do pretty well. I'm not sure that the current quality of the team should have much to do with it.
