Real Returning to site of only road win

Meeting on Real is a No-Go
Sounds like nobody is taking Rocky Andersons proposal seriously...
Quote:
But of the 28 people Anderson proposed to participate on a commission to discuss his plan for a stadium, 20 said they hadn't heard of his proposal except through members of the media. The other eight either could not be reached for comment or did not return phone calls.
Another point to mention from this article buried way down at the bottom...
Quote:
[Gov.] Huntsman has said that his focus is on keeping a Real stadium in Sandy. House Speaker Greg Curtis has also said that he wants the stadium in Sandy, his hometown. If the county rejects the plan, Curtis has said he would like to see the hotel-tax revenue used for building a TRAX line to the Salt Lake City International Airport.
I didn't see any mention of the Trax proposal though!
More smoke and mirrors? Possibly.

S. L. County: Win - Win Deal?
Quote:
After a spate of politicking - and an unlikely alliance- the necessary five votes now appear lined up on the Salt Lake County Council to deliver a soccer-and-entertainment complex to Sandy.
At the same time, Salt Lake City may land its coveted cultural district, perhaps with a Broadway-style theater as an anchor. And the Legislature may boost the Zoo, Arts and Parks tax to fund the mega-playhouse.

No, I think you're right. If we only get 5 votes, Corroon can still veto, and then we'll all know who has the lack of vision along with the other county members who didn't vote "yes".

When he says that he will take politics out of it and only look at the numbers, that scares me. It sounds like he isn't willing to take a chance, not even a calculated risk, and that's fine for accountants, but not visionaries - and that's what we need right now, people with vision of what "could be".

It appears we may just have to change our tactics slightly...

write each one again but this time mention how you would like them to support the compromise that was reported in the Tribune.
  • TRT and RDA funds for Infrastructure in Sandy
  • The proposed raising of the Zoo Arts and Parks Tax up to .07% for the Cultural District downtown
  • Thank them for having the courage and foresight to vote for the infrastructure funding
You know schmooze just a little but be sure to remind them in a nice way that you and your family will be watching how they vote on the issue,

This is good news if it works but we have still not heard a reaction from the Crockett Election to Higher Office Gang... keep in mind that he will probably blast the crap out of it... pontificating on his complete and utter awe of how this is a case study in bad government... yada... yada... yada...

It is coming... so just keep that in mind....

In the mean time let folks know about the "Facts" of the new compromise and plan...
Write, email and call your council representative!

Good Luck!

Actually we are not the ****iest team in MLS history. We did finish ahead of Chivas last year, barely.

I have. Which records are you referring to? (other than the single season scoreless record?)
