Ellinger has got to go!

Once again RSL can’t keep a lead…

Two defensive errors and RSL are down two goals.

Another game, another loss. When are we going to wake up and realize that Ellinger doesn’t have what it takes to field a winning team!!!

Ellinger takes both Cunny and Williams out of the game at half-time??? For who?? Atiba Harris and Chris Brown??? Excuse me, Ellinger but you need to get your head examined.

Who is going to transition between defense and offense? Harris is supposed to do better than Cunny? I’m sorry but it ain’t gonna happen. Ellinger, you gotta go. Time’s up.

Your making terrible decisions.

You expect to win games by taking Cunny and Williams out? What has Brown ever done other than commit mistakes? What has Harris ever done but under perform?

You gotta go Ellinger.

I’m seeing pathetical decisions, pathetic strategy and pathetic coaching.

Two goals down and we have no offense and no one to transition between D and offense.

I’m tired of pathetic performances. Dave Checketts needs to line someone else up for coach. RSL is getting in the habit of mediocrity. RSL needs a change.

Poor tactics. Ellinger goes with three backs even though LA had three forwards (not including Donovan). After Cobi comes in, he doesn’t adjust the defense and make a fourth defender drop back.

It was pointless to watch the second half. RSL didn’t have any firepower on the field to do anything.

I really don’t think Ellinger knows what he’s doing. He’s way in over his head. He takes Johnson off for Ballouchy? Gee, that makes sense. Was that to compensate for the absence of Williams??

Yea, Harris got a consolation goal, but so what?

RSL had no playmaker out there because Ellinger had taken Williams out. So, he had to send in Ballouchy to compensate for his bad decisions.

This is going to be a very long season…

How do you go into a game knowing what Landon Donovan brings to it and not close him down? Landy Cakes ends up with 2 assists and a goal.

This season is quickly shaping into something that looks very similar to last season – in fact, the start of this season is worse than last.

Salt Lake deserves better than mediocrity! Ellinger’s gotta go!!!

He is MLS' Gary Crowton. Enough said. Poor tactics, poor substitutions, poor play calling. He doesn't deserve 3 years. Enough is enough. I'm boycotting RSL until Ellinger is gone or he proves his worth. One of the two. I will not attend any other RSL game until Ellinger is fired or he wins at least two, and not by luck. By skill. By good substitutions. By using a 4-4-2 to deal with a 4-3-3. If we go winless on the road again this season and Ellinger is still around, I will organize protests. I will be a driving force determined to get him sacked and sent back to U20 ball.

I'm Real Salt Lake til I die, and I will wear my jerseys with pride. I will not support Ellinger until he earns my respect, however.

I can't afford mediocrity. I have bills. I will soon have a little boy to feed. I have better things to do with my money.

I agree he should go, but taking williams out was fine i did not see him doing very well, but brown is terribale and cunningham can do better if he stays in there full 90 minutes although harris is an ok player.

I agree 100%.

This year we have a totally different team. Seven new players. With a different team and the 5th highest payroll wouldn't we expect a different outcome than last year.

Different team same results = terrible coach.

Ellinger has to go....

Or he is going to lose his fan base pretty quick!!!!

I have to agree with the comments being made here. What was he thinking taking Cunningham off at half time. I am not convinced that Harris is ready to play at this level. He was consistently timing his runs poorly and being called off sides. I am confused by Ellinger's substitutions.

Though I agree with the general sentiment, I disagree with a little of the rationale.

William and Cunningham were pulled off because they were not putting enough pressure on the Galaxy to allow RSL to play with 3 in the back...was it a mistake to play that formation against the Galaxy...probably...but pulling players who are underperfoming is something we have asked E to do all season...he finally does it and get abused for it?

With that being said, E was horrible tactically...again...here's how:

Who in the world doesn't make sure that Landon is accounted for in the tactical plan. We gave Landon time and space...he responded by creating all 3 goals.

Who plays a 3-5-2 against a 4-3-3? I know he wanted to get HIS players in, but that was the wrong formation to start the game.

When he made the change to 4-4-2, he did it by bringing in his alleged love child Brown (the only theory I've come up with that would explain his fascination) who proceeds to screw up defensively, AGAIN, on the third goal. (Talley stepped up because Hercules was behind him and should have been offside by about 5 yards...but no, Mr. "I have no defensive experience" Brown screwed the tactical pooch again and did not recognize he needed to let Herc run himself offside.

Who allows his teams to play uninspired approximately 50% of the time (going back to last year)? Maybe we should stop blaming the players.

BTW Coach E, Garlick has 2 huge holes in his game...crosses and 1v1s...just in case you have not figured it out yet.

Let me make sure I have this right...you are criticizing Atiba for getting called offsides and suggesting that Cunningham would be better in that particular facet of the game?

Wow...just Wow.

If he is to play a 4-4-2 against LA's 4-3-3, who should have been the 4th defender if not Brown? My guess is that he understands that Brown is a liability on the defense, hence the switch to 3-5-2. It's a catch 22. You play the right formation against the 4-3-3 and you bring in a defensive liability (Brown, Cabrera, Knowles, etc.). Your only option is to play a different formation.

I don't think it's time to ditch Ellinger. There are many well- reasoned arguments for his sacking on this board. My reason for defending him is not as sophisticated, but

I really feel like I am watching a new RSL get some bad bounces. That's soccer. Ellinger didn't gift that ball to Landy, Eddie did.

I don't believe our current bad luck is coaching. I realy think we'll see a good season, and we'll finish it out with our coaching staff intact.

I hope the coming home series will bear out my "gut feeling".
