They might have 30 ready to start building on right now. My question is whether or not the rest of the place could be cleaned up by opening day so that people actually want to come back.

I'm still crossing my fingers even though it won't happen.

Opening day ready doesn't seem to matter too much in MLS. Pizza Hut Park wasn't completely done for quite awhile after the Hoops started playing there.

This should be annual event!

Just might generate some tourist dollars a bit like mooning Amtrak trains .

Just in case you guys missed it, the Big Show yesterday had Dave Checketts on, and among other things, Checketts mentioned that he will NOT build a stadium in Orem/Utah County.

However he left the door open that if he does sell the team, the guys in Orem (Anderson Geneva) were on top of that list and they would build the SSS in Utah County.

Merk over at BS posted the interview online for everyone:
Checketts on the Big Show - 08/08/06

RSL owner Dave Checketts as interviewed on 1280/700 The Zone's Big Show. Uncle Dave was there to spread some Real Madrid cheer. Instead we got another stadium sucker punch.

I have a hard time believing that Checketts doesn't already know what he's going to do.

I have a hard time believing that Checketts, after seeing the enthusiastic response that Utah has given the team, after investing tens of millions of dollars into this franchise, that he would just up and leave.

channel 5 sports reported last night that the team and sandy had been working vigorously on their own and would be announcing something this weekend.

That's precisely why RSL has to leave. BECAUSE of the support we have given them.

The fans don't matter. The only thing that matters is Corporate Welfare.

We need to shut some schools and fire stations or the team is going to move to a place that will.

MLS needs to teach a lesson to cities. It doesn't matter how painted your faces are or how loud you drum or if the visiting team's bus becomes a Lunar Observatory.

If you don't give MLS your tax money, you don't get a team; no matter how devout a fan you are.
