Boy, reading this thread you would think the title would be, "RSL just kicked the cRap out of the ids, but let's see who can spoil the fun." I don't post a ton, but i'm on the board most every day. Gotta get my fix. Usually all I have to do is look at the name of the poster and I can usually tell you if the content is going to be positive or negative. This thread is no different. RSL just had one of their best wins in their short history and instead of posting something positive, the "Debbie Downers", totally out of habit, have to find something to be negative about.

Awesome game...wish it was on TV. RSL has now secured points from 11 matches versus 10 losses. I think they will continue to get better and finish the season on a positive note...getting into the playoffs.

I'm in the Aerick camp.

And i'm a BYU fan. (Not that that should make a difference)

We should all be very happy for the win and the only downside for me was indeed that I could only listen on the radio instead of watching us score more goals than in any MLS game we have played.

As far as the Ute Cougar rivalry goes, on this board we are ALL Real Salt Lake fans. We can wait for November to start being on opposing sides.

I have to agree with some of the more recent posters. I do not post very often, but I read the forum several times a day. There is a clear divide among us based on football affiliation and perhaps religious affiliation, but I appreciate our differences and the passion that we all share for RSL. I like that the forum can be a place for people to vent their frustrations, ideas, and joy at RSL's successes, and I appreciate the more frequent posters for keeping the forum alive. I like that we all have different ways of caring about RSL, but I hope that we can differ without making it personal and without putting down each others' ways of life.

I think it is sad that things are so bleak for us as fans with the team possibly moving that we don't seem to be enjoying some pretty sweet things that are happening. RSL trounced the Rapids, a team they are trying to catch in the playoff race, ON THE ROAD. That is pretty sweet. Also we have a chance to see one of the best teams in the world on Saturday and to represent our passion on the world's stage. How many MLS teams get that chance?? That is also pretty dang sweet! Don't get me wrong I am definitely not saying that all is going well. We are facing the possibility that our team might leave town and in some ways it might be due to pettiness and poor management on the FO's part. That would suck...but I guess I figure until the team is gone let's enjoy what we have while we have it. I mean it really is out of our control. But that is my approach and I respect that other people don't feel that way. I would just ask that we don't attack others personally or deride their lifestyles because they do things differently.

I guess I'm not understanding how a win -- which is a great thing to be sure, albeit a short-term success -- suddenly negates any long-term issues surrounding the team. I have a serious problem with assuming that since the team won yesterday that every comment that has anything to do with the team should then be positive and cheerful. The win yesterday and the behavior of the RSL staff over the last few months are completely different issues. Beating the Rapids didn't suddenly absolve Checketts or anyone else of any alleged wrong-doing.

I'm not sure why it has to be so "black and white" for most people.

I have been disappointed by the way some things have been handled in various parts of the team structure. But I still have respect and appreciation for Dave Checketts and many others in the FO. I have been hardened into pessimism with our on-field results, but I still think we can look promising.

Cognitive Dissonance certainly plays a role on these message boards...

Well, I think we knew before Wednesday that Spencer Checketts is NOT Dave Blackwell reincarnate.

I am starting to check in here mainly for Jose L.'s comments on all things soccer. He should write for Tino Palace;)

Seems like last summer too that we had a debate regarding the pros and cons of message boards like this.

If you're saying that I'm one of these people... guilty.

Wow, a Republican BYU fan from Sandy. And he's pro-choice! They do exist.

No TV sucks.

6 of one, half dozen of the other. The Rapids didn't play well. Some of that was RSL's midfield getting the job done. Some of that was stuff like Freeman gifting Cunningham a goal or guys like Karanka who's been pure class since coming to the Rapids just seeming out of it like he hit his head too hard befor the match. Cannon had a great game. Brown's goal was about as close to a gift as one can come so don't read too much into that one.
