I can't find the stats online, but rewatching the match, the fould count was 23 Real Madrid, 7 or 9 for RSL.
Where is the preferential treatment? __________________

Fouls
RSL 7 Draft-FreeAgent 18 Apparently the software for the stats program couldn't handle Real Madrid. You can usually find those totals on mlsnet.com. The Xango stats are here. __________________ Just build the goram stadium. Last edited by Stucki : 08-14-2006 at 02:54 PM.

that's right, the 23 were the Shots vs RSL's 9.
So, for every three wistles that went our way, they got one.... the ref needs to be more fair... for Real Madrid 😉 __________________

Wouldn't it be nice to have a vested interest in a team that can generate shots that easily?

When I made the comment I was thinking about the cards not the fouls. I hadn't seen the foul count. I think the refs were reluctant to give cards to Madrid and a bit hasty with Atiba's card. I was also specifically talking about how frustrating it was for Atiba to get a straight red and then for Beckham to make a sloppy two footed challenge and not get even a yellow.

I don't like watching superstars getting favorable treatment from refs (I'm looking at you, NBA), but you have to understand RM holds all the aces and it's in RSL's best interests to make sure the organization had a good, productive time, and the players leave injury free.

Does anyone remember being happy when Harris made the roster over Melvin Tarley?

IBIK, you make a good point. I was upset with Harris for being reckless. I didn't think it was a straight red card offense and I don't like the idea of the Galacticos getting protected BUT it was a friendly and it was embarrassing to have one of our players acting like that. Sadly that wasn't the first of his reckless challenges in the short time he was in. He could have damaged RSL relationship with RM and future matches with them. I think what upset me more than Atiba being sent off, was that Beckham made a similarly bad challenge and didn't even get a yellow. I was just trying to get my "it didn't seem fair and it frustrated me" vent on...and now I think I feel a whole lot better about it. 🙂

We've always wanted an "authentic European soccer experience" here in Utah.
Now we know what Malaga, Racing de Santander, Zaragoza, Cadiz, etc feel like when one of their players is a bit late with a tackle.
